Are "likes" killing +rep?

I barely rep anymore cause of the likes now.I gotta get back to it cause I still cant rep people from months ago lol.I still get it a couple times every other day but it definitely slowed down.

the whole rep thing on here is so slanted anyhoo's.. i've seen people who strictly hang out in the toke and talk section who've got rep beyond repute, but yet, i've never seen many of those same people post a pix of a grow, and know that a lot of them don't grow a tomato plant yet alone a marijuana plant.. so, they got their rep's by being witty, or humorous, or what have you, but so not for knowing anything about growing marijuana, and after all i thought that riu was pretty much a grower's site, no?? maybe i'm mistaken about this, who knows anymore..
and of course everyone likes to feel liked and all, on the internet as well as in the real world, but all of these people who get so hung up on rep crack me up.. what can you get with this rep?? can you take it to mcdonalds and get a big mac with it? sure, so long as you've got $5,49 as well, but honestly, what's the big deal about the rep?? like i said, i like to be liked as well, but i'm surely not going around begging for it...
and i like the like as well.. it is nice for when someone gets in a nice zinger, or says something that you were thinking as well, but it usually isn't something that deserves rep in my opinion..

dont get me wrong likes are nice and definately have a place in the forums, just seems like people are more likely to jus click the like button instead of spending the time to rep someone
