FDD

You seem like the kind of guy my dog wishes I was. You make growing dank seem as easy as feeding the dog, you blow glass like some fart in the bathtub, you make hash in the washing maching and and you have mad mod skills.

Carry on!

I seriously think if everyone would just get the point that fdd doesn't do customs, and stop filling his threads with 'orders' that things would go better for you fdd.

Swap those comments with positive or constructive criticism, and theres your 'spark' or motivation.

And its early summer...you went fishing.....I'd prob be on the lake more if it was me

I especially dig the sherlock, interesting design.. super chunky..

did you happen to see the "bridge" between the bowl and the stem? it's clear so you may not have noticed it. i drop a lot of mine so i try to make them all able to handle it. ;)

Is there anyway you could describe the process of how you made the RIU in the marble on the sherlock?

i start with a rod of clear about 1/2 an inch in diameter. i heat one end and form a "gather", which is simply a hot ball of glass on the end. as it melts it naturally wants to pull into itself and turn round, as it's spun. by sticking just the end into the flame and spinning a ball will naturally form on the end of the rod.

once this ball is hot a fluid i flatten it against a graphite pad. this forms a "maria". which is basically a flat disc on the end of the rod.

once i have my maria i write RIU on it backwards using a thin piece of colored rod.

once the letter is laid down i slowing heat it and melt it into the clear while hanging it somewhat downward and spinning it. the colored rod is "heavier" in density then the clear so it moves slower. it will hold in place as the clear melts down and around it, slowly dragging it with it.

you have to heat a little, then push it back flat a little, then heat a little, ....

they call this "imploding". it is a really neat technique with almost endless possibilities.

happens every time. :)

what uses 18mm as bowls? i'd assume there is no detachable downstem.

all my downstems are 14mm females on 18mm males, so i just assume most others are. i guess alot of the new inlines go stemless, i guess. :?

i'll bust out some 18mm's next batch around. ;)

i am in to the more "high" end "scientific" glass... i put the quotes because to some im not a high end buyer and to others i am... lol, but yes i only use stemless... but the two previous bongs had downstems and they were 18 all around... makes sense cause they were triple perc'd, and the extra 4mm gives it that much more flow, IMO. of course this can be argued against with physics, but i dont really care. :)
