Hey :)

Yeah the roots come from the bottom And from the holes , The way you have to think about it is .. as soon as them holes are covered with coco /soil they become ripe for growing from, The hole is not plugged up , Roots are powerful little fuckers ...They can move rocks and stone ..so that hole is a zero effort job for a zillion roots all waiting to run riot :)

I know it might sound a bit strange and it cant be nice to be told that your wrong about something ( i was polite about it :) ) , But i'm all about giving info on things i can see and touch , So don't take it the wrong way ..ok :), I speak from experience .

The guy asked if it can be done , And the answer is yes , I can understand it's difficult to see how it might work coz when i first did it i had no idea if it would work , But i was a pioneer with the airpots and was willing to give it a go ...Not only did it work ...it worked really well

I will have some pics in a couple of weeks i will be glad to do a blow by blow account of how it looks and try and get some good pic's :)

As i said above ... I did it at a time i was freaking out about doing damage to my roots ...So it just made sense to me to try it , I have done it since coz i get good results ...if it aint broke don't fix it kind of thing :) , But i will try and remove the pots on my next crop just to see if it changes anything :)
Hey :)

I have been away for a while but i wanted to bump tis post to show some pic's :)
I wanted to show the effects on the root system if the Airpots are left on and dropped into a bucket of coco when potting up to a larger bucket ( Known as double potting ) .

The Main reason i did this was i was worried about root stress when re-potting when i started growing , The idea made a lot of sense to me at the time for a lot of reasons so i gave it a try ...and it worked with better than expected results .

It kept working ...so if it's not broke dont fix it right ? .... and keep it simple lol

Sorry the pic's are not great but i think they show the effects .

The plant ( Pot of Gold ) yielded 4.2 oZ dry ... But it's known to produce 5 oz + ...So i was under this time . could have been due to a cold spell we had , Temps dropped at lights off a few times or any number of other factors .. but it was below par ....But i will use 4.2 oz as a benchmark for my next grow ...This time i will Remove the Airpot :)

I'm going to try removing the Airpot's this time when i pot up into a bucket to see if it gives any different effects .

Might do a side by side ... but time is not on my side lol :)

anyways ..heres the pics :)

Peace

Thanks for that root pr0n bro. I'm using those same pots and I just love em. I think you will see better results just re potting them though. Zero root restriction that way.

Peace.

welcome, welcome, welcome :)

jimmy one of mine has done that the same when everything else is fine. i'm not sure but it might be slight over nute, some strains do that? looks like ur in soil, are u feeding nutes? if so just feed that one plain water for a few feeds to see if it picks up :)

yes i have gave it nutes twice, i will just give it water from now on and see if it perks up, there is no yellowing or drying out happening

thanks

Here are some pics of my air pot harvest. There are Bubblelicious, Haze #1, and Papaya all from nirvana.
There are 2 plants in .8 gallon air pots (I know they are not the same strain but I don't know which of the 3 each is)
There was also 1 of each strain in 2 gallon airpots (I didn't realize until near the end I had been feeding them 1/2 - 2/3rds the nute water I should have)

Each plant was planted in a mix of FFOF and 1/3rd perlite in standard 16oz red party cups and under 4 24cfls in a PC grow box their first 10 days
Then transplant into their air pots and under 400w HPS for 20 days before switching to 12/12. There they stayed for 2 weeks in 12/12 under the HPS before switching to my 395w 1st gen 2011 GLH Spectra LED for 7 weeks (spending their 60 hours or so in total darkness). They all started to yellow off and I was planning on ending them all at the same time even though it meant the haze would be harvest 3-4 weeks early (although it looks as impressive as the other plants).

12.jpg This is all of it, didn't do any wet weights
14.jpg This was the root mass of one of the 2 gallon plants after I beat the shit out of it trying to recycle the dirt and didn't feel like I could get anymore. It looks about the same as the root mass from all the other plants. I suspect it wasn't more impressive than the .8 gallon plants because I underfed them and they had 250% larger space to fill13.jpg11.jpg First look at em after about 2.5 days of darkness before harvest)

Hi guys heres the pics i promised,..........Bigb BC in 1L air-pots day 26!.........potted up to 10L
Damn thats way more obvious than mine!

Now imagine if you had thrown some Mykos in there! My new batch of air pot plants are running FFOF, FFLW, FFOP, Black Gold, HFT&V, Mykos, Azos, dolomite lime, perlite, and uh... oh I will definitely give them more time to fill our their pots, they only had about a month to veg in their .8 and 2 gallon airpots in my pic

Right now I think they are actually suffering from a little too much N (not badly but enough that I noticed), the 2 that were under CFL their first week or 2 are going along much better than the ones that went straight into LED after a couple days under CFL. 395w LED at 2 ft above tippy tops. Its so fun, there was this period of about 3 weeks with these airpots in the first month of veg where they double their plant mass every 4 days and that was with plain ol Ocean Forest and 1/3rd perlite.

These pots look awesome. I've been using Smart Pots and am in the middle of switching to Geo Pots (taller and less wider than smart pots) but have always wanted to try these. There wasn't much info on them until recently.

Does anyone know where I can get sizes closer to 4 - 7 gallons? I went on amazon and only saw 2 gallon, 3.4 gallon then jumped to 8 gallon pots.

Thanks in advance :leaf: Hope to order some soon and try them out side by side with my smart and geo pots

Here's where I get mine. It looks like the biggest size he's got right now is the 9 liter/2.4 gallon size. If he doesn't have what you want you can shoot him a message and he'll get you what you want.

Cheers bro!!.....I'd recommend them, there real easy to pot up to the 10L's, fits in well with some space around to fill up, and i got no shock at all plants loved it!

I've tried airpots in the past.
5 airpots next to regular pots. Same size clones from the same plant. I noticed no difference in hight, yield or potency.
I always use 1/4 perlite with my coco, which might explain why there was no difference between my airpots and the regular pots.
People that don't use perlite might see a difference.

THANK YOU!! WONDERFULLY STATED!! I'm 1 of the people that went out and "found" these airpots! then paid just under $10 out the door for 1 5 gallon "AIRPOT":dunce: also there was only 1 place that I could find in town (a very large metropolitan american city) that sold them and of course this particular store was well over 20 miles away!!! ;-)

So I invested time, money and a saturday morning getting a "AIRPOT" thinking they were the next best thing sense sliced bread! lol!!

Well 1st the hydro store that was selling them, after I called and was told "we have plenty" only had 1 in stock, so I was only able to by 1 when I actually wanted to buy 4.

I'm grateful that they did only have 1 instead of the 4 because I would have just wasted even more money then I did!! side by side in my 4x4 secret jardin I noticed absolutely NO DIFFERENCE in growth or yield! none what so ever in the airpot then in the 5 gallon "NORMAL" planting container I was growing a sister plant in! NONE WHAT SO EVER!!

:finger: airpots!!!:bigjoint:
