It belongs to ALL of us despite me starting it !

57 days from seed. and yeah i dont wanna keep the pollen i will later on in life once i get everything running smooth and steady. for now Ill stick with seeds/clones

So pretty much all I need is the cooler, some airstones, a pump to accommodate the airstones, and the pots? Will these cooler setups be good for seedlings or just clones? Because I'm not understanding how the water will reach the top of hrydroton or is it the oxygen from the airstones that causes the initial growth until the roots reach the solution? I'm very confused

Well lets just start from the beginning of seed.this is in my opinion and just what ive done every one does it different... once its germ. I put them in rockwool cubes under 24 hours light Until i get root growth out the bottom of the cube. at that point they go into the DWC cooler, I place about and 1" to 1 1/2" of hyrdoton down in the bottom of net pot place seedling into net pot and then fill and cover the rockwool with hydroton.( the reason i cover it is i see less of a chance of any algae or fungus growing on them) I then fill the cooler with water until it reaches the bottom of the net pots. Add my nutes upto about 350ppm then ph it down to 5.5 as i see a rise in it over the day to about 5.8 -6.0. With in a few days to a week you will see the roots growing out the bottom of the net pots, into the water. But with in those few days to that week you will wanna keep an eye on the water level and make sure that it is still touching the bottom of the pots. after that you can back off on the water and leave your self a gap between the net pot and water level just make sure that some roots are still touching the water after time you could have 4-5inch gap between pots and water, I have never let my water get further then 4 inches from the net pots as I am still unsure it would be a good Idea

Hey guys, sorry to barge in, but I just started a set up with the 5g igloo's and wondered what type of glue should be used to seal the holes I drilled for the air tubing?
I plan on getting the rest of the grow set up today or tomorrow, and plan on posting many pictures. I decided to go with the DWCC after seeing how good Flo Grow does with it.

NL said exactly what I do, except :

I use rapid rooter plugs bcuz unlike shitwool, it's inert therefore nothing to ph first. Pre-soak with mild nute solution ( 100ppm ) and drop tap root in.

I keep my water level just skimming across the very bottom of the pot, but never more than a half inch gap.
I noticed more of the thick rope search roots and less fine feeder roots with a big air gap.
It was a pain in the ass trying to cut them fuckers out the pot without breaking the pot.
Think of a Sharpee Permanent marker's girth !! lol

Word of advise, and I should have said this awhile ago to our ppl, try to put an air stone under each pot.
The plants will like it more, especially since you have that bigger cooler.
You see I run 14 inch air bars, damn near the length of my cooler, and I feel there should still be more bubbles.
PetSmart sells the flat round/circle 5 inch stones, like the one of each in my coolers.
Worm's Way has the 8 inch diameter ones, so I plan on trying those out my next grow.
Wait, I'm buggin, I want the aerator 460 that FM found and all it's micro bubbles !! lol

I also made 2 sets of lids for each cooler and still have enough left styrofoam to make 4 more lids.
One set has 4 holes.
One set has 2 holes.

yeah the wool sucks dick its just thats the way i did it I have now switched to an EZ cloner and some others in Root Riot cubes.

about the air I plan on starting with the 4 stones with the commmercial air 5 with 4 other stones in buckets. The air 5 pushes 1400 gal/hour so in that cooler it will push 700 gal/hour just to see if it matches the two i have in buckets which i have an air 1 connected to the two which is 300 gal/hour per bucket. if i dont match that Ill switch to two of the air1s per 25 gal cooler

I guess to me its how much air is being pushed through not how many stones

Ive never drilled holes in the cooler it self but i would try hot glue..

Glad you're joining the Fam !!
I used Goop Glue from Wal Fart.
Even has a good comparison chart to other popular glues right on the front.
I used it per the directions.
No probs, no leaks.
I put thick coats ( just once) around my drain on the inside AND outside.

I just started an organic grow about a week ago. Can I still use organic based nutrients in one of these cooler setups?
