My First Attempt at a Hidden Grow (Tips Please) Pics Included

5 cfl 23w 6500k lights $15 canadian
the wire $2 canadian
5 light sockets $10 canadian
its a 2 x2 foot area by 3 feet high
or 50 cm by 50 cm by 1 metre hight i guess (or close to)
can of flat white paint $5 canadian (paint it 1st) i forgot till after the lights were in
total $32 canadian or like 20e and well like 35 american now
the memeries of growing your own plant priceless

dude literally the shelf in the cabinet moves up and down those holes in the side hold the pins i have 2 feet of movement and if i move the shelf out i gain another foot
the plants arnt in it for the pic of the light setup look at the time stamp
it was just an example of how cheap it could be i veg in it till my plants are 14 inches high not including pot height

Your headed in teh right direction... You have lots of good advice being thrown at ya !
Subbed, I really would like to see how this grow turns out ! +rep for having the balls to start your own thread and ask questions... a lot of people like to bust into the first thread they find and start asking away.... talking about flowering in the harvesting section.. and bulbs in the hydro water and nutes section.. and so on...
I'm using an old entertainment center, and some home made hoods.... check out my grow. If you have any questions feel free to post in my journal !!!
some tips.... even tho your gonna use CFL's .. they are still gonna get hot ! Invest in a small .. or a set of real small fans that can move air genitally around your box. Your also going to need fresh air.. so some type of venting will be needed. My plants allways end up stretching a bit too much ..... way more than i would like really... but I just tie them down and make em' look pretty...
If you start out your seedlings in cups and they stretch, you can trans plant into a pot, and bury the stretch, then the stretch that is buried will grow roots.
One more tid bit of info..... Pot size is key, if you have small pots .. you will have small plants. invest a little $ into some bigger pots, you need more root expansion, i know you have a small space, try to thin the flock to a few plants and trans plant them..... just some suggestions !

Hey man no worrys id vent it personally more to benefit the plant than cool the light i think its only hps's that need cooling , however i could be completely wrong.
Ive always dipped in and out of smoking weed but recently over the last 2 years its become a 24/7 event as ive found it helps a nagging back problem. I used to get oz for £80 back in school could be crap could be amazing but price was always same. Now high grade is £200-280 an o dep on strain and standard homegrown is £140 an o. Its actually criminal lol i dont know anyone out of this area to go to so cant get better id drive to scotland and back if i had too and im at the opposite end lol not that it would help your getting robbed just as much as we are !

I'm the same I won't go into it but I was in a RTA which left me disabled lost most of the use of my right leg.I'm on morphine for the pain which only just takes the edge off. I'd always smoked weed but mainly at weekends until I started smoking a joint for pain relief even my docs are ok with it there view is if it helps me then it's only a good thing. The way I look at is the morphine is probably doing more harm to me than the weed..lol
For the same price as an oz I managed to buy everything I need,ordered the fan and filter this morning and Even ordered some of my favourite strain which is Cheese. Making me want one now ..lol by Tuesday I should be all up and running. Off to roll one now;0)

Thanks for all the new posts guys , greenpower what can i say i gotta learn screw the haters Picked up cfl for the lamp last night only a 20w but couldnt just walk past it when i had socket waiting for it so for now at least theres bit more light until i get the upgrades.

Slowed down my amount of watering plants seem alot more defined now almost healthier , they grown alot since the last pic i believe so ill update later.

Still in need of a smaller fan , ive been opening the doors and pointing the big one in there when i can.

i didnt manage to get the nutes which sucked place is quite fair away from me so think im going to try find something closer to home.

i tore apart on of those space heaters and took the fan from it it was slightly biger then a computer fan
and the nice pard was 120v couple marets and plug into the wall good to go

As promised a lil update amazing what just water can do lol need to shuffle them round 2mrw try and get the best use of my light gonna try find a suitable nute locally 2mrw aswell but think i need todo some more reading on them before i head out.

i read the 1 page or 2 did you get another light/bulb? theres some good cfls on ebay that are in your budget 300watt dual spectrum for 47quid delivered would really help ya plants. also nutes would be carefull with stuff from bnq etc do plenty of research on it if ya do get from there.

fink wilkos have some good nutes that people are using on there plants heard good things about there liquid seaweed extract, but i would personally just get some bio-bizz grow and bloom 6quid for each prob less online.

yo sambo , yeah i grabbed a cfl 2 nights ago , its a pretty weak one tho , however ive just been offered a hps system so hope to pay for that friday , im going to keep the cfl etc for a micro pc grow.

My plants havent had anything but water from seedling and id like to give them a boost even tho there doing well , i had a link for the good wilko feed but wilkos is 20 miles from me. Im trying to find something i can just grab at b&q tesco stewarts etc so if anyone could link something so i know exactly what to grab thatd be ace. Im going todo some more nute reading shortly so i can atleast make an educated guess

only thing is they dont have reflectors remember so your either gonna have to run em vertical(which ppl will help you with) or start trawling ebay n stuff for a cpl of reflectors to run em normally, either that or if anyone reading this has got reflector or 2 they aint got a use for hit Ontheball up an help him out

Ive got lots of tube clips so i could use those to run vert ? or do i need space around the light itself ?

I hear bad about miracle grow in lots of ways so have stayed clear of it.

Im going to just go for a mild veg nute as im still learning.

defo time to invest in a ph meter , i want to top so badly.

How do my plants seem to everyone considering the ghettoness to this grow ?

Yeah I made the switch to HPS and it is doing AMAZING xDIm also on the same boat as you with the whole nute thing. I know the basics.. more nitrogen for veggie state.. but I just want the BEST deal..And i also need a ph meter and a soil meter.. but i just dunno where I can get the BEST deal and I still needa find out whats a RELIABLE product ya know>?what equipment are you using on the grow?
