I'm one month into a cardboard box grow myself and i must say that we must have been on the same frequency at some point in space and time.I got the ole Bissell Steam Vac box a rockin. I have a very similar setup, right down to the door cutout lol. Just need some more lights before my girls stretch like corn stalks. As far as the powdery mildew i read somewhere that you can mix baking soda with water and use that as a spray to raise the alkalinity of the leaf surface so PM cant survive on it. Dont know how true it is but it may be worth researching. Dont worry yourself to much over it, just spray hell out of em and keep ya bud sites dry.

Just out of curiostiy, how much was the greencure, and you said no odor? Might be worth looking into as a preventative if it really dries instantly and leaves no residue, especially since Shirley had PM, but then again, Laverne never did get it, so what Dread said about the PM manifesting itself in clones is interesting shit, seeing as Laverne and Shirley were both clones, but different strains.

thanks millyy! honestly, not sure if washing will eliminate it... yeah, it's a relief i found that stuff. so far the plants are looking better. i did go a little trim-happy (despite metasynth's warnings) and cut off some of the worst leaves. we'll see how things look tomorrow...
Ah well I'll see what i can do hehe ! Thanks Homer!

sir tom, thanks for dropping in +rep! that's awesome you're also growing out of a cardboard box -- you should join concord dawn's group. what strain are you growing (if you know)? to avoid stretching, i think it has to do more with distance to the light than the amount of light. keem'em close and they won't stretch (if they know what's good for them, lol). thanks for the advice about the baking soda -- i think this "greencure" stuff is made partly from that. i think the stuff is starting to work... you'll see some updates at the bottom of this post!

hey meta... it was pretty cheap, like $9 for a jar that would make like 10 gallons (and each spay only needs like 1/16th of a gallon) so this should last a lifetime. they hydro store guys couldn't be more positive, they REALLY recommend the product and especially for preventative care. you can find it locally here:
http://www.greencure.net/where_to_buy.asp

looks like it's doing its job so far :) ... interesting about laverne and shirley too...

hell yeah man! by the way hippy, i was a little off with my earlier estimate of RH... it had been in the low 30s when i checked, but i realized it gets into the high 40s depending on if i just watered or what the temps are. i guess i should try to lower it to fend off the mildew?

DAng homer! Who knew we were both in bay area!!!! Good luck w/that f'n mold bruh!
uh... i was *trying* to keep my location undisclosed... haha, j/k, but yeah that's cool bro. you'll have to join up when we have our RIU convention / bud exchange! and thanks for the encouragement!

Ah well I'll see what i can do hehe ! Thanks Homer!
no prob millyy... hope you can find a new pot!

Ok my friends, here are some new pics for your pic viewing pleasure. The greencure treatment seems to be working.... or at least my wishful thinking leads me to believe so. The leaves look substantially better. I would say 65% less mildew than before I applied it. That's not bad. I will keep monitoring, trying to keep RH down, and going with the filtered-air-in arrangement -- which means i will have to get a couple more trueairs (so i have two pushing air in, and two pushing air out... $30 more and some more monthly wattage is worth it for a clean box). And I will reapply as needed (they say once a week, but I may go more aggressive if I have to).

And here are the pics:

some closeups on the leaves. the PM is still there, but trust me, it's not as bad as before.

Looking clearer already!

If when the max RH for a limited time is only around 50% during flower you are doing great honestly. Obviously the lower the better but 50% max at limited periods is pretty optimal. The contaminate must have been introduced diretly for it to have taken a good hold in those conditions. (Unless you just have a lot of mildew in the air from housing issues such as I mentioned before or if you live in what I call HIGH RH lands such as scotland, ireland and oh canada)

I am sorry I shouldn't have mentioned RH varies on the amount of water left in the medium within the air wetter soil wicks more water into the air.

yeah i can't believe that stuff is working. if i make it to harvest, i will become an unofficial spokesperson for their product. and yeah man, i can see trichs even more clearly when i look through the 3-lens loupe (15x total) with my eyes, much better than with the camera. perfect view of the structure and everything. thanks bro!

lookin good bro, glad to see the PM is clearin up...
thanks bro, i'm glad too, such a relief that it's getting better. yesterday i was stressed all day about it...

no prob, and thanks for the info hippy! i'm going to be monitoring the RH more closely. might need to invest in a better RH meter that tells me the max and min of the day.

by the way, if anyone knows... you might've noticed in the last bud pics that some pistils tips are turning brown (like in pic #3, the big closeup of amnesia bud). this is kind of a newb question, but isn't it kinda early for that to start happening (3 1/2 weeks flowering)? could it be that my temps are too high and the pistils are burning a bit? (it does get to around 90-92 range in parts of the box when all the lights are on).

thanks for the info!

don't sweat that one bit. some plants just do that. i've had ones start turning before the lower bud sites even popped.
