Green-O-Matic Project

Hello Tokers :leaf:
This is my first thread and my first growing experiment. I'm growing two Green-O-Matic plants. Basically i'm just trying to keep it as cheap and simple as i can while still providing the plant with the minimum necessities.

My setup consistes of:
* 1.5 Kg of soil per plant.
* Hesi TNT Complex
* a 125 watts Elektrox 6500K_10000 Lumens_ Energy saving lamp with built-in-ballast and a reflector.
* Digital Timer

It's been 1 week since germination and it's looking good (at least that's what i think).
Before starting this project i made my research and i hope everything will turn out just as i planned.

I know it's an Auto-Flowering strain but i'm still going to switch the light to 18/6 when i'm satisfied with the growth. For now it's on 24h light, and i'm thinking of keeping it that way for 2 weeks more (Feel free to suggest an alternative but only if it's tested and works).

I'm aiming for a 50 to 70 cm plant height, it's in a closet with no ventilation, but i open the door every day.

That's all i can say for now, feel free to ask questions or suggest improvements.

i have question about "Lumens". I'm a bit confused because i remember reading that indoor light should give about 2000-3000 lumens, my lamp gives 10000. How can that affect the plant? is it good or bad? Cus my growing space is less than a square meter.

get you a small fan in there moving the air around. you dont want to blow directly on the plants but you do want them vibrating slightly, this will reinforce the plant stalk as well as move the stale air away from the plants. I would boost up the plants, they seem a little stretched to me. The fan should strengthen them some but you may have to LST it later on in veg.

About the fan, i'm working on it. I'm just low on budget right now and can't seem to figure out how to convert a PC fan to 220V :S. (any cheap solutions?)
About the streching, that was intentional, since i want it to strech a bit. And i was thinking of toping it (still not sure though).

Ahh i see, its all good then!

I got a a 6 inch clip on fan and just removed the clip and set it pointed at my light.

You basically need a cell phone charger or something that matches the volts on the pc fan, its much easier to just get a desktop fan when you can.

At first i was kinda aiming to finish it in 1 month (from start to finish, i need it for new years eve),but i'm not really sure if it's possible though. Any opinions?

I hate to tell you this but no, it wont be ready for new years eve.

most autos take atleast 60 days to flower and mature enough to smoke it.

Update 10/12/2010
I found today a CFL 2700K 600 Lumens Lamp at home, so i disassembled a useless desk lamp into something more useful
, a height adjustable lamp to add to my project.
I want to give the plant some more light :D and balance it a bit with red spectrum light, although it's not very powerfull, still it might change the atmosphere for the dwarfs and adds a slight steampunk touch to the whole project :D
One of them is kinda preparing itself for TLS already ))

OK, so i just fixed the ventilation problem with a CPU Fan with 3600 RPM and a phone charger. The temp dropped from 30C to 26C in 5 minutes :D that's a relief, and the plants are getting lots of movement. The fan is standing on the floor pointing at the lamp's reflector, which reduced significantly the ballasts' heat, it's actually very very cool now.
Although it's very noisy, that's not a problem for me since it's in a closet in the other room. IMAG0221.jpgIMAG0220.jpg

Update 11-12-2010:

Plants are looking healthier than ever, they stopped stretching and grew a couple of leaves.
I guess the stretching was due to high humidity. Finally installed the fan and covered all the surfaces with reflective material.
Watered them twice since re-potting from germination, soil look humid enough so i'll wait a day or two before watering again.
As from today the lighting will be 18/6, before that it was 24h. Temperature dropped to 26C after being 29-30C without the fan.

Just topped the 2 plants today, first ever attempt at topping so we'll just gonna have to wait and see :-? and hope for the best.
Both plants look healthy, no problems what so ever. Still not showing signs of flowering but the smell is already starting to fill the closet, especially at night.
Here's a couple of pics, took them with HTC Desire and i'm very impressed with the quality(wasn't expected)

Any updates on this? would love to see and hear more :-)

Plants already showing 2 or more hairs(didn't count them all), my camera has no macro, and even if it did the hairs are very hard to see so here's some pictures.
Another plant sprouted a couple of days ago, i just planted the seed without germinating it first and it only took it 2 days to break the surface, now it's 1 week old.
