Heat went down at my house and another blizzard came... the house is a little under (40degrees F)I added 2 more books under to keep the plants next to the lights. they are under warm temperature. I let my mom and aunt use my heater as it's freezing cold. The furnace must need more juice or something. I have no idea when the next time I'll be able to go outside is.

!! getting substantial growth ever since co2. I cleaned out a spray bottle so that I don't have to feed the leaves with my fingers.... *thumbs up*

be very careful when foliar feeding. when you do that make sure the lights are off. the little droplets on the leaves act like a magnifying glass and will burn your babies. just an FYI.

thanks for all the links.
You are welcome. I hope they are helpful for you.

and I did as much research as I could and read probably 19 hours of information before I even signed up. I honestly did have trouble finding anything about root tangling with other plants...

That's because the people who wrote them know not to put more than one plant per pot/container and go on the assumption that everyone else knows it too. The closest information to that, that you might find is about the root-bound condition. It will be able one plant in a pot/container that is too small but the affects of it on the plant will be the same as having too many plants in one pot/container. They just won't tell you specifically what to do in the case of multiple plants since they do not expect that to ever be a problem since it is not done.

I dislike reading and never read a novel in my life, for those that said that I enjoy reading.... lol, I can't stand it. But I've done more reading than ever just trying to keep this plants looking and feeling great.
I am something of a voracious reader. Novels aren't my favorites, I'm more of a fan of history, mainly military history. A book that's roughly 1,500 pages, like "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich," by William L. Shirer, is something I can't out down and will read it in a handful of days. I've read it about four or five times now along with literally hundreds of books on WWII alone. Toss in The Revolutionary War, The Civil War, The Korean War, WWI and The War in Vietnam and I somewhat know about military history. Some books that are more on the technical side are favorites too. I have read through many of the text books my family members with degrees in botany used along with others they have collected over the years. Things that many people would consider too dry of reading are things I enjoy. I tend to find them very interesting.

You need to find a way to get the temperatures up. Cold alone will inhibit the uptake of certain nutrients in plants. At temperatures below 50 degrees F. phosphorus uptake is extremely limited. Your plants will not be able to take in all of what they need because of low temperatures alone and they will have problems. Find a way to get the temps up to at least the upper 60's, though mid to upper 70's would be optimal.

" In the quiet words of the Virgin Mary... come again?"

"Snatch" is one of my all time favorite comedy movies and to me Brick Top made the movie. He was a rough old cob and I can be one too so I somewhat identify with him, minus murdering people and feeding them to pigs of course, so it was a natural for me to pick his name for a username and I just had to find a picture of Brick Top from "Snatch" to use for my avatar that would capture his dazzling charm and inner compassionate warmth, that is so very similar to my own.

Well that makes perfect sense lol! =P

I get what you were saying about being a good grower is learning BEFORE you grow so you can prevent the mistakes before they happen. I get it, I really do.
I spent YEARS researching and you know what I learned after all that? I will probably never be able to grow an amazing crop of killer weed.
And do you know why?
Because I realized that I really don't want some huge killer crop of weed stinking up my house and taking up an incredible amount of space.
I'm more in support of SOG or crop circle type grows first off.
And second, I was just trying to be nice to the guy since everyone else was basically laughing at him and being considerably rude.

I started a grow simply on a whim. Just to see what would happen. Just to see how well they would grow. And you know, they're actually doing fairly well just a minor nutrient deficiency that I've since corrected. I appreciate your advice, but you're preaching to the wrong choir. If you don't like how I do things, that's fine. But our reasons for growing differ a lot and I'd appreciate it if you didn't push your agenda on me, thanks.

No portable lights brosef, all I got are my 3 cfls on the ceiling. I got a dresser and a closet and a perfectly white corner with white sheets (to cover a hole on the wall from an accident that I haven't gotten repaired) ready to use once I get some lamps and more lights.
Yea, I've heard of someone growing some pretty good buds just using soft whites. I'm not going to attempt using softwhites the whole time... but it's interesting to know that it may be possible. just going to get me some Daylight bulbs like Barbie said in the mean time.
ok man i just got back today so go to the dollar store spend 1.50 on a power strip than go to walmart then look for the plugs that have the wall plug on one side and a light socket on the other like a buck a piece and pick up a 3 pack of daylight cfls and a pack of soft white cfls all the 23w 100w equiv. and you can get all this for less than 18bucks and least you can a ok cfl set up

i grew a plant with just the AG hood she turned out great man you just cant half ass shit or your plants will suffer

yeah but doesnt that inturn lead to more of a probablility of mold setting in? from my understanding the wet, dark and cooler than daytime temps are what mold likes...

mold doesnt happen until you are in flower unless you have some seriously screwed up humidity and ventilation.

i'd have to respectfully disagree with that last sentence about the reasons to grow are different. is not the reason to grow to produce dank bud? i didn't know there was any other reason...

so would you foilar feed while flowering? or is that just a no no. i've never really foilar feed.
I dont foilar feed at all. I think mold has to have dead plant material to grow on. That doesnt usually happen in veg but will happen in flower as the plant dies.

all the 23w 100w equiv.
A C&P of some Ed Rosenthal information on CFL growing. It's just something to consider for the future.

Look at a lumen/watt ration of various CFL's. The higher the wattage of CFLs, the lower the lumen/watt ratio.

For example...

the 200w listed at 9250 lumens for a lumens/watt ratio of 9250/200=46.25

the 150w is listed at 7500 lumens for a l/w ratio of 7500/150=50

the 125w is listed at 6500 lumens for a l/w ratio of 6500/125=52

the 42w are listed for 2700 lumens, l/w ratio of 2700/42=64.28

I have some 26w that give off 1700 lumens for a l/w ratio of 1700/26=65.38

GE lists some 13w that give off 825 lumens for a l/w ratio of 825/13=63.46

So, according to these numbers the most efficient bulbs for growing are the 26w that emit 1700 lumens. If you used 8 26w bulbs (208 watts total) you'd be getting 13,600 lumens...4,350 more lumens than a single 200 watt CFL. AND the eight 26 watt bulbs would cost less than the one 200 watt bulb.

Do you know the difference between pot and hemp?

geneticly their the same species, the major difference is how their grown.

Pot is given lots of room for the roots to spread, which increased THC production, hemp is grown quite close together which inhibits thc production and also encourages the plant to grow super tall (both horribly bad things for indoor pot)

I don't think any of your choices for the poll is right, they'll all live but your bud will be absolute shit.

Please don't take this as a downer post, your plants will survive and your going to learn alot obaout plant morphology if you stick with this.

Don't worry about 'seperating the males' just chop them down and move on. Your not going to produce an ounce, your bud won't be the bomb diggety but it will be free and you will learn about pot at the same time.

Have fun growing and enoy the experience.

thanks man i read that before this thread im switching from cfl to hid just the small watters like 150s to 250s because i want more pot lol
like it says on the qoute "8 26w bulbs (208 watts total) you'd be getting 13,600 lumens" and a 150w hps put out about 16000 lumens and a 250 even more and of course you have to spend the money on the equipment too but i know you already know all of this info but this cat thinks with 9h of research he will be rollin in bud i spent weeks months years even before starting a seed and shit at 18 i can grow better pot than all the dealers that i know that sell crappier shit for like 25 bucks a g
