First Grow: DR40 Grow Tent, 150 Watt HPS, Hempy Bucket, White Widow

None whatsoever... But I always add Cal-Mag Plus to my nutrients... I also have a foliar with just RO water and some Cal-Mag that I feed the plants every so often.

During Veg I rotate foliar feed between a mix of cal-mag, and another spray with just some superthrive. During Flower I've been using some bloombastic mixed-up for a foliar. Once a week I'm sure to clean the plants with just plain RO water, or this stuff I recently picked up called Jungle Juice (basically a leaf cleaner).

Photo Update:

Here are pics of the LA Con at Week Five of Flower. I'll start flushing in a few days, at the start of week six. That'll give me a two-week flush (at least).

Checked the Trichomes on the LA Con right as lights went on... All of the bigger trichomes--the ones that are on stalks--are cloudy. That being the case I decided to start flushing.

Flushed with two gallons of RO and PHd water with 10ml of Florakleen, a half gallon at a time. Then drained and fed RO water with just a tad of Florakleen to take care of anything that may have built-up in the res.

Thanks!!! I'll try and get more updated pics tonight at lights-on. The lollipops and the white widow are already starting to develop a good amount of trichomes, and as the name suggests, the white widow doesn't have a single red hair at all, but tons of bright white ones!

PS: It's the middle of week four... They are each about 18" tall and are being fed 3/4 strength nutrients and 2ml of Bloombastic per/gallon, every other day. Takes about a cup and a half to get run-off.

So lst is freakn awesome! I lstd all three plants and topped them as well and I've got 5-6 good tops going. Thanks for all the help bro!

How tall were your lst'd plants before you put them into flower? I'm just trying to get a feel for how much they will grow when I put them into flower.

Basically, once the tops are established, however long each of the stems are for those tops, you can count on those trippling. So if you have a main stalk of 8 inches tall, bent it down so the other tops could pop-up, each one of those tops grew to two inches, once they flower you could expect each of those dudes to tripple in height. The main stalk will slow down, but will keep pace with the rest of the tops. So my plant was basically 11" tall (if I could straighten it out), but about 6" after being bent down. Then the stems that the tops were on each grow another 7 inches or so, making the overall height about 13-15 inches.

I didn't top the LA Con because I didn't want to slow it's growth, and when you top you should veg for longer so that those tops can generate a substantial stem of their own. The LA Con had nodes-on-top of nodes already, so I figured it wasn't needed. I topped the White Widow twice, but actually think it might be unnecessary when LSTing. It ends up taking the same amount of time for the new tops to develop and catch-up, as it does for the plant to naturally grow that many tops anyway (at least when LSTing). So the LA Con, while vegged the same amount of time, has actually way more tops than the plant I "topped." And it's supposed to be less of a producer.

Got some weed-cloth at the hardware store today. I'm going to use it to line the 2-liter bottles with, that way when they hit the sides of the bucket, they won't start turning and twisting, but will rather stop and grow in another direction (basically I'm using the cloth to make a homemade version of a smart pot). So I'll just cut a sleeve of that out, insert it into the bottle before I fill it with medium.

Going to pick up some Hygrozyme the next time I'm at the hydro shop. On my next grow I want to really start trying to focus on the roots. I think I managed to get everything else under control, so I figure it's time to introduce another variable. So for the next cycle, I'm adding Hygrozyme and the weed cloth to the pots. Hopefully I'll get the healthier, thicker and denser root cluster that's advertised. I figure once I switch to 2-liter bottles for pots, I'll need to maximize root health if I want to get good yields. I've also heard good things about the CannaCare Root Stimulator... Anyone try either?

So glad I found this thread

I too am about to start my first grow using the DR40 with a 150w HPS. I'm worried about the temps for the tent as mine will be going into my wardrobe. I was thinking about getting one of these for extraction:

http://www.growell.co.uk/p/0231/GroWell-Complete-Extraction-Filtration-Kits.html

However I am unsure to go with a 4" or 6".

As for intake I was thinking of using a 140mm PC fan, do you think that will be enough or will I need more intake.

Advice please? :)

I'm using the dr60 and I've got (2) 105 watt cfls and all I use so far is one 140 mm of fan attached to some ducting to exhaust the hot air. The tent is in my closet and the temps never get higher than 80 degrees F.

I don't think you'll even need an intake fan if you have a fan that can create enough negative pressure that will draw in fresh air.

Im going to get a fan/filter combo once I start flowering in a few weeks and I'm only getting a 4inch fan filter combo. I think you should be fine with that since my tent is slightly bigger.

Plus doesn't the dr40 only have 4inch intakes?

yea its only 4 inch plus u couldnt set it up as the pic shows you would need to mount the fan on the outside of the tent as a regular size filter barely fits in the tent with enough room to attach ducting altho i do have acoustic ducting in mine however i still think it would be to small. other than that issue the kit looks good, iv actually been to one of their shops and from that id recommend them everything seemed very organised and i wouldnt imagine they'd mess up an internet/phone order.

Thanks for the information, extreamly helpfull. However still abit confused on how I am going to set the fan on the outside :S

sit it on top of the tent lol that paticular fan can be sat with the intake over the exit hole on the top of the tent due to its shape, i cant do that with my fan as its long not short n fat so mine just sits ontop
filter>ducting>fan>ducting
you dont need ducting after the fan however it reduces noise slightly if tht is an issue my fans wrapped in some towels to deaden the noise

Oh I see, that makes a bit of sence, thanks again man, gettin a bit worried now about it all lol.

The ducting is 5m long, is cutting ducting down to size ok to do?
