Came to post some trichs but obviously I should have grown JTR. Nice work Hayduke, wow. And TCurtiss, you know I enjoy that photo quite a bit.

Here are a few VORTEX grown in roots and fed Botanicare nutes. Apparently while these were in veg and I was living in a cave somewhere, it won the medical cannabis cup? Now, after harvest, I know why. Some of the best extreme nausea meds I've had in addition to several other pluses.
It all started with a good ol' 10 pack of TGA Vortex I had laying around for about a 6 months, heck- maybe more?.. You see I had picked it up initially thinking it would be mediocre; and all the 'hype' (Which I now think of as gospel) that Sub had been spreading around the forums documenting his elite breeding experiments was all a ploy to make seed money (much like some other breeders strain videos). After growing other breeders gear (4 new strains for 20 grows) and only finding a couple keepers, while reading and falling in love with "the book of DANK," I gotta wild idea to sprout my TGA gear I'd purchased some time earlier.
Thinking nothing of it I didnt even label the strains going in, just threw the beans with 5 other breeders gear into some towels and onto the heating pad they went (yes sub I cooked your gear and it sprouted, but I use a thermostat controller).... From percentages only I had 8 of the 10 Vortex beans pop along with a troop of LA confidential, lemon skunk, and less than impressive others.... Vegetative growth was uneventful for all as they gathered the strength and underground infrastructure for explosive flower development. Vegging everything to a height of 24" and growing in a loose SOG I unflinchingly threw all of my the potential girls and studs into 12/12 and waited like a kid for x-mas. I was in need of meds for myself and my patient and couldn't wait any longer for them to indicate sex and get this flower power show on the road.
The 8 vortex went on to produce 2 males and 6 females and when the males indicated their plans they were seperated and deprived from any real tlc (very low light, no transplant, no nutes, no ph'ing the water).. After much thought I made the chop and only kept one male long enough for some selective seed making on one branch per plant. The females had already began developing quickly as they had the power of HPS and nutrients on their side to rush them ahead of the males development.
Within a few more days buds started filling in everywhere and even with a few more pistils I started noticing abnormally advanced early resin development on a good handful of the plants and a closer look revealed secretory hairs for potential resin development down the road.. This show was starting to get really good and I began kicking myself for not having labeled the individual strains of the seedlings I'd started. (a practice which simply using rapid rooters in trays has solved for me, one strain per row & label the row).
Working closely with the plants I stayed in sync with the budding gals over the next two months. As they fattened up I was able to sort out the plants strain through research and constant plant observation during floral development and reflection upon vegetative growth research documentation.
The phenos I found in my lot of 10 vortex seeds, and 6 resultant females were amazing;
1: very apollo, dripping in resin and more earthy smell/taste. By the end this pheno had to be staked up to support its buds because the branches where no match for the density of the resin on the flowers. It was a truly amazing site and I haven't seen anything quite like it, instead of bud flop as usual, it was like a limp cartoon plant, like when popeye flexes and he gets the dip down instead of muscle up, or a better analogy, like tiny limp sailing ropes holding up massive dripping glass boulders.
2: more space queen with more indica looking floral clusters and a sour fruit smell, coated in resin but not as much as if it where half the size- i.e. tiny bomb-esque #5....
3: I don't even know which way #3 leans besides being a keeper for life.. Sour and cat piss like, with an almost chemdawg 91 dash, a bit of spice, plus hints of rotting fruit, and candy with potency. My patient doesn't like it because it has increased appetite but I don't want to part with the pheno anyway so it is a win win.
4: 50/50, a keeper cut, probably considered the "true vortex" being a middle of the road
5: very small almost tinybomb development, resin GALORE. The theory of dank is repeatable.. It is no longer a theory, it is now the Subcool law of dank.
6: early harvest, space queen dominant, was the great smoke even early, but the taste hadn't blossomed yet.
The only other strain in this grow that can hold a candle to vortex is the pure G-13 cut I procured from another caregiver who has had it for 12 years. I am finally headed for that as it is 1:15am and 18 hours of vortex medicating has finally got my tolerance high enough to switch strains. Man, what a great bong toke that G-13 just was. Did I mention I outcrossed the pure, greasy G-13 to the Vortex male? Well, it was implied and the seeds are ready and we will see what the backcross does with some of my extra clones from Pheno #3. Thank you subcool for providing me with the knowledge (for free, not in paperback) to do most of this.
Without further literary delay, the photographic evidence any of this actually occurred;
18.08% unbiased tested THC, yes it is possible, and here is some research documentation!
Here is #3 - Sour cat piss fruit candy
Let one girl go extra long for some late night smoke.
My Tiny bomb-esque girl. Sorry due to yield she will be enjoyed once. Dont hate me. I will hate myself.
Unseperated non staged photo of trim. If I had photo'd my bubble selection it would look like white x-mas.
#3 again - incredible stem and leaf resin coverage. One node lays snapped and ready for medicating.
Some Apollo dominant
Hope these meet your standards sub
the buds met mine.
I have since started a querkle, pandoras box, kaboom, qleaner, and qrazy train and they're in veg now.
m.c. one
P.S.
I know someone is going to ask what the yield was, so I will say It wasn't either the best or the worst yielding strain in my garden. (even the tiny bomb-esque pheno wasn't the least producing plant, both the best and the worst yeilding were non tga strains. But that is different than the best medicine...)
P.S.S.
Next run these girls will get 2 or 3 days of darkness to INCREASE the resin, this was a trial run of several strains.
