So, you're using a 60w CFL? I've never seen a 60w CFL before... You sure you're not using a 23w = 60w CFL bulb? Can I get pics of the bulb :).

does it matter what seeds you use? or do they have to be some form of dwarf seed?

shit you were right, the bulb is a cfl 13W = 60W. but it still has a 900 lumen output, and emits a highly bright crisp light. like i said, because of the extreme reflectivity of the silo i cant look into it with it on but it stays cool.

also, i calculated that the surface area of the base is only 28 in. sq. which means that its about 900 lumens over 2 sq. ft. is that alright?

no im just using a bag seed that i determined was a female from fdd's seed sexing chart. it was fat, round as could be, and the indentation by the attachment. if it turns out not to be a woman, no biggie. i have a 120 seed colection. that was the best looking out of all of them.

shes about 2 cm tall and starting to shake off the seed shell.
all told shes 4 days old... so moving pretty quick

yeah, im an idiot. 900 lumens over 28 in. sq. is not enough. but with the reflectivity i might be ok. i need advice tho.

i have a 27 W = 100 W but it gets hotter and i would have to work out a new way to cool it...

jaykhub you could grab a cheap 50 watt hps light from home depot and wire youself for less than 40 bucks. :joint::peace::peace::peace:

where is the seed sexing chart i haveyet to see it. I didnt think you ould determine the sex by seed.....Jmac

yeah i was thinking about getting the hps, but in such a confined space the silo would get hot as balls. i could take a pane of pyrex and separate it from the chamber, mount the fan on the side, i dunno tho.

my most recent painting just sold for $1500 so i might go out and buy that when i get the cash.

what i might do i get a 150 watt cfl and do the same thingi described above. also, will this 60W be okay for its first couple days or week 1?

Sounds good, atleast your getting all the right equitment and all the supplys you need before jumping into such a large project.

yeah, i dont expect the plant to 100% female. but i picked the roundest fattest seed out of 120 seeds, just hoping for the best.

im not that much of a twat

klkl, wont the seed get too big for the silo?

well, ive DEF thought about that and have been planning it and thinking about it for some time.

first of all, the container is pretty small as u can probably tell from my pics, therefor shell become root bound before long and as long as proper nutes, light, and co2 are adjusted its size will eventually be limited by the container just as a fish grows to accommodate his tank.

second, i will preform a combination of FIM, trimming, and topping to limit growth.

lastly, i will flower very early as early as 1.5 weeks and as late as 3 weeks, depends on its rate of growth

check out kindprincess's shotglass competition for more information and to see why this will work. also note that i am using a larger cup than her and therefore will have less of a likelyhood of producing all males and will hopefully yield more

You know what, ima stick one in my PC and start it off on 12/12 see wat happens i got a bag full of seeds meh..........

prob about 8 inches tall

updates: i was out at the pet store today buying stuff for my lizards and snake when i saw a temperature probe that has a wire to the probe so i can read the temp with out opening the silo.

its hotter than i thought. its around 92. so its not gunna kill it yet, but im going to mount the fan on the side and make modifications to the base.

i also forgot that the ducting is 3 inch tubing, so not as wide as i mentioned earlier, but will still allow for a decent cola. also that means im getting a bit over 900 lumens in 7 square inches. SWEET

also i bought a comprehensive guide on how to grow a bonsai tree. might pick up a couple of tips...
