This is my first ever grow!
This is quite simply more of a personal experiment and hobby than anything else,
I've wanted to try and grow my own for years now, and the other day I decided
to just go out there, get the things I need and just start...
I hate dwelling on things that'll never come around!
Not to mention I am sick and tired of paying my hard earned money for
something that grows wild naturally and should be freely available to those who
want it, making people feel like a criminal, having to meet dealers for something
that could do the world some good. We need some change...
I'll stop rambling.
So, to get me started I have a 125W Dual Spectrum hooked up to a hanger
horizontally at the top of my room. The space is relatively small, but as this was
more a one plant test I'm not too bothered.
On top of this I have a 120mm PC fan that's incredibly quiet and smooth, and
seems to pull a great amount of hot air, which is great as temperature was
becoming quite an issue (more on that in a bit)
The plant itself is an Autoflowering Afghan Kush Ryder, I've heard great things
about this plant, but also bad so fingers crossed it won't Hermie on me, decide
to stay vegging forever or anything else that could potentially go wrong.
The seed germed within 12 hours and gave me an inch long tap root so I threw
it in some soil and saw a sprout the next day. (I used the paper towel method)
Unfortunately I didn't realize quite how fast this thing would grow (as i have no
prior experience, never even grown a potato) and it was placed quite near the
bulb as I was using a CFL. The damned thing grew straight up into the light and
burnt itself, giving me a few crispy fried leaves... Apart from the strange curling
and the odd missing leaf tip the plant seems to have perked up again and shown
some more growth.
The plant is in a mixture of grow bag soil and compost designed for small plants
and cuttings. I recently transplanted the plant out of the old pot as it was getting
far too small and roots were poking out the end. Hopefully this pot should be large
enough, it was the biggest I have and looks to be about 7-8 litres. Will this be big
enough for the plant when it fully matures?
I have lost both baby leaves now, which I'm hoping is normal... not that they would
get much light anyway. Any helpful comments would be appreciated as I'm going to
need as much help and experience as I can get.
So I give you my straight forward, simple as it gets CFL grow!
Currently at Day 15
I'll try and keep this thread updated as often as possible, I seem to have a lot of free
time on my hands at the moment so it shouldn't be a problem...
If anyone knows whether the burnt leaves will recover or not, that would be helpful...
feel free to leave a comment about anything though, and post pictures of your grow if
it's relevant (same pot size, strain, lights etc...)
