isn't that the point of it all? isn't the point that we are fat, lazy, corrupt and selfish and should be stripped of our illusions of superiority, along with the wealth we have accumulated? no amount of charity will ever be enough to make up for the sin of success. we must atone for that sin by joining the least of nations in their degradation. that we are merely on the road to success is immaterial. it is enough that we dare to believe that goal possible. we have fallen prey to the envy of those who lag behind and are in danger of being consumed by our own sense of guilt.

what is it we owe the rest of the world? our humanity dictates that we not stand idly by while others starve and are beaten down, but do we make our family suffer so that our neighbors are fed? there will always be the poor, the suffering. do we invite them all in to share our bounty until it is too depleted to support us? we have yet to find a way to make our own people self-sufficient, without dependence on the waste of state enforced charity. we have yet to feed our own hungry and house our own homeless and we are supposed to welcome the even greater burden of another country's needy?

our standard of living, what we consider the necessities of life, may be higher than most anywhere else in the world, but our individual standards, what we consider necessary to obtain those things we feel we need, continue to decline. it's time we remembered just how hard life really is and increasing our efforts to create a just society at home. we must be willing to demand that our own people to fend for themselves and free themselves of the bonds of slavery to the state before we can hope to spread the wealth of an industrious nation around the world. a strong nation filled with citizens capable of making their own way is a nation that can lead the world by example instead of by force. those jobs taken by illegals, no matter how menial, would go a long way toward rebuilding the work ethic that built this country and reducing our dependence on an uncontrollable welfare-state.

i'm NOT saying give it all back! i'm saying a more equitable situation. I know it's INSANE to think a laborer is worthy of his pay. again i'll say PENALIZE THE PEOPLE WHO HIRE THEM AND MAKE A PROFIT ON THE ILLEGALS!! They would not stay if they couldn't find jobs. Why doesn't this happen? Because the employers reap the benefits and the public rails against the little guy and doesn't care that the immigrants are largely responsible for keeping their Happy Meal at an artificially low price.

VERY well stated. People rely on our feeling a sense of guilt and shout racism rather than realistically note the impossibility of this country moving forward while our welfare expenses sky rocket.


Off note, I just wanted to add that I am very impressed with these police officers. I don't think I'd of been able to hold back from arresting them.

ignorance is the enemy of all men, and when uniting together for common, upstanding goals, is evidence of the miracle of our existence-

with that being said, one of the main grievances, although not spelled directly and probably not even recognized mostly, is the fact that these folks (currently mainly mexicans), have no interest in assimilating into our existing culuture. they want to keep their culture, and reap the benefit of ours, i don't think it can be both, although in my case it is easy to be eastern european, AND, american, of course with americana first, but i do not insist on offending others with my beliefs to the point of apartheid.

if you want to be an american, come by all means come, if you do not want to be an american and are only here to take advantage of our "luckiness", then you should be sent home
either way it won't be easy, one has tremendous benefits, an, one does not,(maybe)?
