Lol Well guys, I just received my seeds (:bigjoint:) and I want them to get to work as soon as possible. I kno lots of ppl ask this, I tried google to find my answers but nothing, hopefully you guys can help me out here. I've been going crazy since I ordered my seeds, on what soil to use. I love the stuff you guys are using like FF and other brands, but they are pricey and will get here late. So for right now I have to find some good organic soil at Walmart, Home Depot, or Lowe's.
I read up on that supersoil soil from walmart, they don't have it here.

But anyway shoot some guys and I'll be showing you which soils I have found at those places. And also, Slap me if i'm wrong, Can I mix that ____ soil from any of those three places and mix it with Perlite, Peat moss, worm castings, any others?

Indoor, outdoor in containers or outdoor in-ground grow?

I made a great cheapo hardware-store soil I use for my outdoor veggies. From Home Depot...

I used 1/3 Sphagnum Peat Moss ( http://www.homedepot.com/Outdoors-Garden-Center-Landscaping-Supplies-Soil-Soil-Amendments/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xh7Zbc17/R-100626048/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 )

1/3 Mushroom Compost ( http://www.homedepot.com/Outdoors-Garden-Center-Landscaping-Supplies-Soil-Soil-Amendments/Earthgro/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xg1Zbc17Z37w/R-100619081/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 )

And 1/3 worm castings from my local nursery or hydro store.

I also add some perlite. Not sure exactly how much.

If you can find high nitrogen Bat or Seabird guano that is a great source of base nutrients. You will need to feed every week or couple weeks though with a liquid plant food or fertilizer tea.

MrSticky, is one better than the other? I have some unopened Happy Frog and if Ocean Forest would work better I'll swap it... or get it too and mix them if that helps! :)
the oceans forest is stronger which is good as long as you flush when you transplant. the happy frog is a little less hot and It keeps your plants really healthy but I think they grow a tad bit slower. for indoor I would go with oceans forest for outdoor I would go with happy frog or black gold. the oceans forest had bat guano allready in it and a bunch of perlite . the main thing that will give you a impressive yield is humbolt gravity flower hardner.

Why would you use the stronger nutes indoors, and what do you exactly mean when you say flush? I have heard people have different processes they go through when 'flushing' soil. Which one do you mean? thx homes, nice pictures too man, that's quite a few plants, you've had a few to experiment on, no?

I'm pretty green but I used Miracle Grow potting soil from walmart. Most everyone I've talked to is against any MG product but I think that if you hold off on the nutes until the 2nd week of flowering or flush it really good before you begin feeding your plant it will work fine. That's what i've been told by a local grower anyway.

Miracle grow is just a little too strong for cannabis, it will burn the older growth and the tips of leaves among other things, I grew a White Widow until maturity (boy) and it was a very healthy plant genetics wise and it still got a little burnt, if you cut it (the dirt) maybe with something less harsh then I think it might work fine to grow with, even with some miracle grow in the mix...

As an organic grower, and this is an organic forum, I despise Miracle Grow primarily due to any profits Miracle Grow makes going to its owner, Monsanto. Monsanto's agricultural philosophy and practices are deplorable.

this was my first organic grow and i used foxfarm ocean forest soil, mixed with nothing until flowering. that is good shit you dont have to add any nutes during veg it has worm castings, guano, and other tasty stuff mixed in there with it. mine are thriving in the stuff, sturdy and green, multiple branching no nute stress. if you really feel the need to "boost" them just take some unsulphered molasses and mix it in with the water. provides natural sugars. when i get to flower im going to make a high P guano, molasses, and worm castings in distilled water. its pretty eazy

Sounds pretty good, like a nice mix of stuff that's in the fox farm soil we're been discussing.... just don't mix it too hot is my only advice, especially if your transplanting strait into it from seedlings...
