best 400watt bulb?

i have found these growlush bulbs on ebay for around 35 us before this i was using eyehortilux bulbs costing me 129 cad i put this grow lush up the same day i changed my eye hotilux side by side my grow lush bulb looked brighter so i did some googleing found that grow lush 400 watts 65 200 lumens same as eye hotilux 600 watters so if u have ever used these lets hear some feed back if u havent i suggest trying them outbongsmilie

I'm using a 600w growlush bulb right now. Seems really bright and the plants are loving it but I don't have anything to reference it to. $80-100 for a hortilux bulb just wasn't in the budget because I find it so ridiculous. There has to be a good reason why the hortilux is $50 more for a less intense bulb, but unless it is proven in a side-by-side comparison to be THAT much better, I ain't falling for the gimmick.

Until I get a bad experience with the growlush bulbs, I'm going to use them. The price is right and it sure helps that they're really bright.

well the hotilix has the name to sell i think thats were at least 60 of the 100 go plus maybe the other 40 is there blue enhanced but i dont like it as much as my grow lush

GrowLush HPSL400

The 400w HPS GrowLush Lamp is designed to run in a 400w HPS Ballast.
Growlush lamps are cheap but not nasty. The 400w lamp has a lumen output of approximately 50,000, like other 400w lamps. The main difference is that it may need to be replaced sooner then other brands. For example, instead of replacing after 3 standard cycles you would need to replace after 2. For those that change their lamps every cycle and want to save some money or for those that just want a bargain these are a perfect option.

they say they're MH conversion bulb puts out 52300... that's higher than some HPS bulbs... i'd like to see some verification on those numbers myself

Wait what!!??? Arent you the same A-hole going around bashing HPS growing saying that LEDs are FAR SUPERIOR in ever way? Yet you are making a thread to get advise on buying HPS BULBS? That makes no sense.

62500 just sounds... wowish... i mean GE and sylvania have been making light bulbs forever... grow light makers have been trying to push them as hard as possible... and these guys (from aus i think) come out with both a hps that does 62500 @400w and a MH conversion bulb that does 52300 @400w... higher than all but the best HPS out there... just smells fishy to me

but that one sight says they burn out fast so maybe the dim down faster too... who knows... like i said... somebody with a real light meter check them

(maybe they check at 20cm instead of 30 in aus... haha)

hmmm u know what they say about things that sound to good to be true ill have to run this past my htg supply guy. the combo that works for me is for 4 sq feet 1 600hps and 1 400cmh right beside it. if i start tryen to spread it any lager it seems that i dont coverage from both lights on all the plants. the ceramic mh has a lower output in lm but the spectrum of usable light is sposed to way more than make up for it but i have never ran a side by side and this is just what i have been told and read about them light is 1 thing that more can never hurt imo

Best bulb for a 400 watt hps ballast?

Ill bet anything I got that a son agro 430 hps bulb is still the best on the market.

It will screw right into any 400w socket, and perform like no other.

Ive tried em all.

i was just looking and it say son agro bulb 430 has 53000 lumens
where as 400 hortilux has 55000 and life time and degrees kelvin are the same for both and when i went to the store last week he said if you place a 430 in a 400 w ballast you wont get full potential . now i am going from hear say but sounds good to me :wall:

youre right... a 430 bulb in a 400 ballast will only output at 400... it will work... but it will nto operate at the light output it is rated at @430watts

do they make them in 600w. ??? htg supply lists some budget bulbs with good claims i used the conversion bulb for 2 grows & it worked just fine

You will not get the additional 30 watts because you have a 400 watt ballast.

BUT, You will get the added blue in the son agro bulb, that the other bulb is lacking.

The added blue will make your plants much happier :hump:

I believe you do get the actual 430 watts. Because an average 400 watt hps ballast will actually induce about 438 watts of power. It is just the bulb only draws 400 watts so the ballast is only producing 400 watts to the bulb, thus delivering the extra 38 watts to heat and your power bill. If a bulb were to be capable of 430 watts then the ballast would be used to more of its potential and run a little cooler because an extra 30 watts is getting introduced into the bulb and not the electrical components in the ballast. I checked with my hand a few minutes ago and my ballast is running a little cooler than it was a couple days ago with the regular lu400 bulb. This is only what i believe, but i could be wrong. So dont hound me for my 2 cents. Also my agrosun is rated at 58000 lumens. The reason the lumens are lower in the sun agro is because it has a wider spectrum than the hortilux (it has more blue spectrum). My agrosun has very little blue spectrum and is rated more for its red spectrum, but still has a little bit of blue. I just realized i probably just confused the hell out of everyone.
