I may have misread the post, but I'm sure that more than half a percent of cops abuse their power. I think that the most common places to see this power abuse is the lower class neighborhoods of cities around the world. For example, on new years I got pulled over by 8 cops cars, guns drawn, lasers shining through the car with my friend's baby in the back seat. When I asked them why they rolled up on us so deep the cop replied, "well... we got a call that you had guns in the car. Plus we're kind of bored." I didn't think it was that funny walking backwards with my hands up.And they are usually caught... but I guess if less than 1/2 of 1% is "too many" cops abusing their power, then I suggest you move to say... England! The police don't even have weapons there!
So yes, cops abuse their power. But just like anyone else, they're humans. I'd imagine when someone is rude/disrespectful they take it personally just like I did when I was working in fastfood and someone disrespected me. Except I guess instead of putting some snot in a chalupa they put hot lead in peoples' bodies? They need to recognize the responsibility that comes with being a public servant and having the ability to take someone's life.
I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Fuck the police
