And they are usually caught... but I guess if less than 1/2 of 1% is "too many" cops abusing their power, then I suggest you move to say... England! The police don't even have weapons there!
I may have misread the post, but I'm sure that more than half a percent of cops abuse their power. I think that the most common places to see this power abuse is the lower class neighborhoods of cities around the world. For example, on new years I got pulled over by 8 cops cars, guns drawn, lasers shining through the car with my friend's baby in the back seat. When I asked them why they rolled up on us so deep the cop replied, "well... we got a call that you had guns in the car. Plus we're kind of bored." I didn't think it was that funny walking backwards with my hands up.

So yes, cops abuse their power. But just like anyone else, they're humans. I'd imagine when someone is rude/disrespectful they take it personally just like I did when I was working in fastfood and someone disrespected me. Except I guess instead of putting some snot in a chalupa they put hot lead in peoples' bodies? They need to recognize the responsibility that comes with being a public servant and having the ability to take someone's life.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Fuck the police

Dude These are relatively new friends, I happened to buy a home in a neighborhood where my next door neighbor is a cop.. We have become friends over the past 10 years. I am 49 years old that leaves 39 years of life before i moved here.. During that time I was not friends with not one cop.. So I can say that I never had a problem with a cop in the 39 years prior to living here.. and since being here the same holds true...
You know as well as I do that some people are just stupid and will not do the right thing ever, even if it is to their absolute detriment... PEACE

biggun, biggun,, biggun WTF

first = you never had any probem with the police because there your best friends (drinking and going fishing together ....really?) you beleave everything they say - they get the benifit of the dout form you - if only he had not ran when the cop said freeze--WOW
if he runs into a house they where to watch the front and back of the house then call for back up - the police is to never chase after a fleing suspect that shit is only in the movies, the general thought is you will allways catch them later
second = the op started this thread to morn his friend not to here your "not all cops are bad bullshit" first you had to defend you cop buddies then you told him where his friend went wrong-WOW all before saying sorry for your lose are you sure your not a cop

That's not quite true I should of said the only problem I ever had with cop's is when I did something illegal and got caught.. Trust me I don't have time to talk about the treachery and me-ham I caused.. But I don't act like that anymore and my dealing with the police at that time was not a positive experience but I learned from it... Some people will never learn and that is a shame for them..... PEACE

Dude when you say not tough enough for the job I know what you mean, when a 100# woman cop has a problem with a group of men I understand that she does not have an intimidating presence, but that is a direct reflection of society not having any respect for what the badge stands for. not so much the figure wearing it.. SO should she just let wrong she might be witnessing pass and let another innocent get hurt.... Somebody will always have to stand up for the meek... And that is what the cops are for.. Personally I can protect myself and don't need their help... But that's just me... PEACE

the wrong she might be witnessing go

good point
but even if your acting like an ass hole you've still got right's
i don't hate the police, but some of them are not tough enough to do the job, and i've been around long enough to know that as well

Dudes you can think of me what ever you want,, I came here for one purpose that was to learn a new hobby.. I'll be honest I never though I would get caught up reading post and responding to them... It just happened and I am enjoying it... And yes i realize that The original poster came here to morn his friend and I truly did morn for his loss, any death is a tragedy... But I was responding to all the others before I posted who were telling about their dealing with the police and how the cops shoot before they ask any questions.. I was calling bullshit on those remarks and saying in my life experiences it's usually the same kind of people who are having all these problems.. They are not anyone particular race or religion but they do all have the same mindset when it comes to following the rules.. So once again I do not know the story behind this guy's loss but I grieve any loss of life.... PEACE

I wont go so far as saying that all police should die, but I will say this. I work overnight at a convience store and live in a small town. I talk to these cops all the time and they DO pull people over just to check for warrants, especially on slow nights. They get bored so they look for people from out of town (less likely to fight tickets), and wait for them to do anything. Obstruction in window, driving in passing lane, etc....., if they want to pull you over I can bet that within a mile of driving you will give them a reason. I also sell the little glass roses (glass pipes) and other paraphenalia and if they notice someone walk out with one they will follow them and eventually pull them over.

Anyway, Sorry for your loss. Whether shooting him was right or wrong, its still a loss, and it sucks. At face value it seems to be that the police used excessive force. and yes it happens all too often. The police have lots of non-lethal ways to stop him. They are trained to not act emotionally and that seems like what happened. Police are supposed to be held to higher behavior and judgement standards. They should have called swat or waited for back up. they knew where he was, where was he going to go.

Dude If those feelings are true, you are the reason I own a firearm.. I would love to be the one to put you out of society's misery... I know their are a lot of people who could not, Unfortunately I could.. I am not a religious man but I honestly hope that during the remainder of your life you will be able to rid yourself of all the hate you harbor inside... It must be quite a burden..PEACE

real talk......it brings honest joy to my heart when a policeofficer gets murdered.... its not happening enough these days

How about just respecting each other... If society was able to do that there would be no reason for the police to exist... PEACE
EXACTLY I was raised and taught to "treat people how I want to be treated". That's a new concept to a lot of people.

it's not an ideal world tho and that's why you need cop's that are still capable of dealing with people without gun's
like those soft uk cop's
