Okay, so I'm growing indoors now. Planted 9 seeds to start with, six of which ended up being female which I consider myself lucky about. They are about 2 weeks into flowering as of now. Well here's the deal: I am planning on moving my grow outdoors come next season and I live in PA so I still got another 4 months untill I can put them outside but I'll be cutting clones off of the indoor plants I have now after harvest. Which at this rate I am assuming to be about another month and a half. Ofcourse they will not be ready to be transplanted outside at this time. So I am wondering if there would be any complications if I were to veg the clones indoors for 2 and a half whole months untill I were to finally transplant them in mid April. What precautions could I take to see that stress on the plant is minimal? If I can pull it off I should be able to grow some pretty damn big plants by the end of the season

What type of light you using.? If 1000 w than the max you can grow them is 3 to 4 feet before the bottom leaves stop getting light. That's not a big deal as lolloping for outdoors is a good idea. Makes it easier to put copper mesh around the stems. Keeps slugs off the plant. They won't cross copper. You can also lower the temp to the low 60's and the plants will slow way down. Just crank things up when you want them back.

I'm a fellow pa grower and I myself am starting the beginning stages of next seasons outdoor. This past year was my first outdoor attempt on my own, or at least under mostly my own supervision, and it turned out very nicely. What part of PA are you at? Im towards the south-ish and temps seem to stay generally warm enough to flower to the end of october, with flowering starting a couple weeks into August, so strain selection as far as flowering times isn't really an issue with most types.

It's a 400 watt hps. I noticed that about the bottom leaves tho. After a while some of them started getting hard and crunchy so i just clipped em off. Good idea about the copper. I've never grown outdoor before so I'm not familiar with some of the problems that may occur although I hear slugs friggin suck.. Thanks for the advice bro.

Me too, I'm right on the PA/MD line pretty much. Are you a woods grower? Deer are rather abundant around my grow space and im worried about them eatin up all my shit.. My main strand I will be growing is lemon skunk btw. I hear plants can get pretty big by harvest with PA's climate.

I'm still gonna have to wait a little bit because I think they would get too big for my closet if I started veging them now. Although I agree! I definatly want them to be atleast 3 ft when I transplant. Should have a better chance of survival too wouldnt you think?

Yea PA can definitely produce some killer outdoor plants it was hot as hell and mad sunny this past summer. I did a main crop in a wooded spot and another smaller in a cornfield. I didn't have any problems with animals because I got a bunch of human hair and spread it around the bases of the plants. I asume the smell can be picked up by animals and its a trick my grandma told me she uses to keep deer and gophers and the like out of her garden. To be safe I also had a rag soaked in bleach i hung in a tree next to the plants that i would douse about once a month, another big animal deterent.

Good ideas. I was thinking about hollowing out a patch and plantin my own garden inside of a corn field but the only thing stoppin me from doin that are the hang gliders I see flyin around every so often. I think it would look a little obvious and I deffinatly don't want anyone tippin off the cops..

When planting outside the easier it is for you to get to it the spot than it's easy for the rippers. Some ideas for you to consider

don't plant more than 4 to 5 plants in one spot if rippers show up they will not get all you hard work. Even if your planting 4 plants put them in different spots.

Wild animals can damage and eat them. I use a bar of regular Irish Spring and stick a screw driver through the box a couple times and drop it by the plant. Smell keeps most of the cridders away. I always have a piss near them to.

I also use sheep shit or cow shit. I get it at the hardware store mix 1/4 bag in each hole. You don't need to go back to feed all the time. I also add a moisture holder that you can get at the hydro shops. Looks like little plastic beads but hold 100 times there weight in water. (Baby diapers work too)


Don't show or tell anyone.

Stay away from them, the more you go the better chance someone notices.

i found that if you run 24/0 light in veg. they will flower to soon so i would 18/6 light

Thanks Woodsman. How often do you generally visit your sites? Does the weed pretty much just grow itself if conditions are right? Yea I don't think 24 hr light is ever a good idea.

Always nice to see another outdoor grower on here... far less than there are indoor grows, for obvious reasons this time of year..

I too plan to start veggin some plants in Early February (indoors) to move outside in April... Haven't chosen strains yet, but will probably grow 6-8 (feminized) babies out and hopefully have them about 2 ft tall, maybe taller by the time I move them outdoors... I have a lot of spots, so I would probably just plant one in each location to minimize my loss for various possible reasons...

I definetely recommend urinating around your crop... The Irish Springs soap idea is interesting, I will have to try that in the future... I try to choose a location that is obviously secluded, but also not around another other real "tasty" vegetation that animals would be around eating... I've had good success dozens of times planting next to a large pine tree... Conceals your ladies in flower, as it doesn't turn as fall and winter approach.... I've used so many different techniques to try and keep animals away... Might just have to use the Irish Springs soap idea... Really sounds like that would keep most critters away the more i think about it....

I try to turn the soil in the location a couple times before planting if possible (not always advisable, given you may be somewhere someone can see you and you're probably somewhere you really shouldn't be)... If not, I just dig out a spot... I normally mix in a decent ammount of perilite as well as the other goodies (guano, manure, fish emulsion, blood meal, etc... depending on availability).. I give it a good watering and then leave...

I normally visit the spot 3-4 times a month, feeding a high Nitrogen fertilizer until flowering starts, then switching to a 10-25-25 (or so) for flowering... I got a nice 3 gallon jug w/ a handle I normally use.. Usually only fill it up about half way... closer to full once I get later into flowering...

Last year was rough for me, but 2 years ago I had 4 crops (2 plants each) that all made it through but 1... Ended up w/ about 11.5 ounces dried after pitching an ounce or two of bud that got infested w/ mold and worms from one location.... I visited all 4 locations 4 times prior to planting, and in total visited 20 times after planting.. Harvested on October 17th...

Yesir! I'm more less trying to acquire all information as possible on outdoor growing before I take the plunge. Thanks for all the useful knowledge. 11 and a half oz. is good for 4 plants dude! So did you veg them for 2 months before transplanting to get those yeilds? Just trying to figure out what to expect. I have 12 acres of private woods I can grow in but I'm probably not going to be able to visit the sites too often because it's my parents place and there's no way they can find out. Seems I'm am going to have to tend to them in secret when the opportunity presents itself. Soap idea is rather interesting, especially because I'm going to need an animal deterant that will remain for weeks at a time rather than having to piss around them every couple days. you cant cut clones after you harvest, i would cut them now and you are going to have to reveg them if the plant is already in flower. threw them under 24hr light

Good call man, I was waiting for somebody to point that one out. I was reading about it the other day and realized I will need to utilize a different plan of action. Think I'll just start some fem seeds I got and use them instead.
