Before we begin this is just a knowledge grow, nothing special, not looking to yield outragous amounts, just a nice KISS grow to help me understand the basics before I move on to a more serious grow. Right know im using simple CFLs (4), and yes it is in a contained enviroment just took her (knock on wood) out for pictures

Sweet. How big (wattage) are the cfl's? Are you going to be using a real (HID) light? They look stocky so they are getting enough light... for now. The stems look thin... are you using a fan?

Im not with them right now but I belive they are either 13 or 15 watt. No fan, I know I need one, but mall traffic just sucks. I was thinking of getting a computer fan and wiring it up to a battery holder with like 4 AAs in it

you can wire the fan to a simple cell phone charger in most cases... then you dont have to change batteries.

I live in Pa, I have a cell charger it's a barrel plug not sure how easy it'd be to wire it to a fan... If u want it it's yours haha. As far as the plant's go you're doing well. How far into the grow are you? week or two? or 3?
Found my of my old LG chargers, will see if it works. I cant remeber the extacly the start date but it was either the saturday or sunday before christmas (23/24)

Dont worry, thats a minor burn and should recover just fine, my first CFL burn was on the tips of fresh growth! she turned out just fine.

you got some more time to go, they will gradually build up how many spikes the leaves have.
Tell that to Knowm, my plants did real will vegging on cfl's as well.

They have to be situated far too close to the plants... I have a grow king 200w cfl. I don't use it. I used it at first for my clones, but now I'd much rather stick with the hps.
What does real well mean? As good as hps or mh? If not as good, then real well doesn't cut it.

I really cant say, i havent used MH or HPS for veg yet. ive seen many HPS vegged plants and they are too lanky, not many nodes for the height they get, etc. and mh is probobly good, my plants vegged as fast under cfl's and 1 cool white (blue spec) floro tube when i first started out. very tight nodes. I started 12/12 on them on the cfl's a week before i got my hps and switched.
Here's a pic from 1 minute ago, doing quite well.
Knowm grew a grapefruit i believe, i forgot the total yield, it was a very good yield, and i believe there was 1 17 gram bud. using 8 42 watt cfl's.. im not saying they are the best, i'm sayign they are a very useful alternative for someone who cant afford to go buy a HPS or vent it's heat.
