Right VS Left

All you people that can't see the difference between right and left really need to do some research. It is not me being divisive, it is the facts. I'll just give a couple of examples and you guys tell me where I'm wrong. Yes I know that they're mostly all crooks, the congress:
1.Right against any change in medical status-left wants single payer
2.Right wants to expand war, kill the bastards-left wants to bring the troops home.
3.Right wants to keep all their money-left wants to provide for the common good, IE make sure everyone is fed, has shelter, and healthcare.

Now tell me there isn't any difference, and this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Feel free to show more differences, as I said, there are plenty of crooks in the congress and white house. #1 cause, lobbyists.

People like you are the reason I am against public education.

The difference between right and left is like comparing the difference between bad and worse.

Washington is controlled by politicians, who are controlled by corporate interests, that's the real problem.

3rd party will clean house

Try to think outside the box

Untill lobbying is outlawed, party affiliation will no difference make. The opportunity to get rich will always trump loyality to ones constituancy.

Why, because we've got enough education to see through the smoke and mirrors. I may not have a degree, but I can spot crooks, and we've plenty of them in this congress. Tell me what is so special about "People like you".

I have nothing against getting rich, because rich people provide most the jobs in this country, but I won't vote for any party who has had control in the past 20 years, because there has been no change - for the better - from either side, only more corruption.

I'm going to take the bait, on behalf of those who feel there is no difference between right and left (although I understand the difference and you articulated it quite well, medicineman).

I think what these people are confusing is the politician's right/left, which often has no clear line, and the people's right/left. For instance, many of our elected leaders are for sale. They will cast their vote as directed by any lobby that forks over enough cash. Many people would probably do the same, if given the chance. Fortunately, lobbies don't shell out money to private citizens to persuade their opinions (although they do use clever advertising, which is often more persuasive than cash).

Now, I'm not one for generalizing so I feel it's important to point out that there are representatives in Congress who, for the most part, hold the interests of their constituents above the interests of lobbying groups. They may accept money from special interest groups and not allow it to sway their opinion when they truly believe they are doing something that the people want or need. For most, it's hard to distinguish between those politicians who are for sale and those who are not. As a result, they lump all politicians into the "for sale" category, thereby erasing any ideological differences between the two sides and the two sides have now become joined.

When speaking of private citizens and the left/right ideologies - you really can't argue that they are AT ALL similar.

One other difference I might add that you left out:

The right fights tooth and nail to protect big business (oil, tobacco, etc), while the left generally acknowledges that big business is capable of protecting itself and instead opts to protect the private citizens.

Generally speaking, the right is well off, and the left is poor, or less than well off. There are exceptions. Some of the great people on the left were wealthy, the Kennedys come to mind, the Rockefellers, etc, but the majority of above average income people are of the right wing persuasion. I think they feel they have climbed out of poverty and deserve to keep their money, fuck the government, and fuck everyone else that wants, or needs assistance. I have some "friends", more like acquaintances, that believe all of us on the left are after their money. They, (Like others on this site) actually start foaming at the mouth when approached with any subject involving the left. I went to lunch with two of them last month and almost had to get physical, he was so angry that he was actually spitting food out of his mouth while ranting. I though Fred was going to have a heart attack. I started laughing and it made him even madder. They are so blinded with their own importance, they literaly can't see the forest for the trees.

I have some republican friends who, though they are poor enough not to have to pay taxes, never miss an opportunity to rant about "where my tax dollars are going". I just keep my mouth shut, rather than pointing out they aren't paying any taxes.

I worked for this one douchebag who was always boasting how he earned 33 million dollars a year or some crap, and he always used to say "I used to be a Democrat, then I got rich."

If you pay careful attention to some of the righty posters on this forum, you'll notice they are often boasting of their 6-figure incomes or stock portfolios or other investments.

Because you don't even understand the difference between left and right in political terms, so I doubt you could comprehend the difference between a neo-con and a conservative. You obviously don't have an appreciation for American history that would show most of our wars have been started by the lefties of the democratic party, and I'm sure you will just ignore B-Rock's plans to send more Americans off to war.

Why waste tax payer money on public education when clearly people aren't learning anything.

I wish you righties would make up your minds.

Do we need more troops in Afghanistan, or not?

You bitch if he doesn't send troops, you bitch if he DOES send troops.

Can't have it both ways.

It sounds as though you are implying that if you have the drive to earn money or invest and profit, then you should have to share it with the rest of us. Doesn't make much sense. A major problem with the political left is that they understand once you make people dependent they tend to become more and more dependent. Our problem is self perpetuating in the sense that when people are given something they demand more and more. Let's break away from these dependencies and strive to become a strong unified country that doesn't need to depend on the gov't for a lifestyle. I understand that some people aren't capable of being independent and these people should be assisted, let's hope by a strong family unit as opposed to the gov't.

Still, what makes you soooo special? did the silver spoon fall out (Expecting a rant)? Yes I understand full well the difference between left and right . I also know what a Neo-con is and what a conservative is supposed to be, but it always appears to me that they are mostly both assholes, just like you appear to be. American history, I know first hand the last 60+ years and a few fairy tails from the past. Those that win the wars write the history books. I'd bet some hard cash that our history books are not all that factual.

Didn't he run based on pulling troops out. I guess my memory isn't that great. Don't forget marijuana affects your short term memory.

Politics are like religion, they only work if you have faith in them and believe. There is no such thing as a person that believes in all demo or all rep values. It's a melting pot theses days, just like our people. Or maybe a big chopped and tossed salad, because we realized that we don't have to melt together but rather just incorporate our lovely differences in order to taste better. Being wealthy is not enough for you to call yourself right-winged and an authority on all things political. And being middle class or less educated does not give you the right to say that you have a better understanding of what the people really want. We happen to have a pretty decent government comparatively speaking. We are fortunate to live in this country and have the right to be part of the decision making process. We are all unique individuals and most of us like to think that we are well informed when in truth most of our opinions are based on media coverage that sways. We depict things in the light of our choice. Reading how people refute each other politically in the RIU forum is laughable. If you want to change something, change it. And I would like to point out that this country and it's people have for sure made changes over the past 20 years. We are a much more open and accepting people than we were 20 years ago. We are a young country and our culture has little experience nor model to base our direction off of. I will say it again, if you don't like what's happening politically then make the decision to be the difference. Then you can post about that, what YOU are doing to make a difference. Find a personal solution for yourself and find a way to be happy. This is the second time I have witnessed finger pointing in these forums. It is more constructive to hear what others are saying when they present their opinions and then informatively respond. If we listened to each other, perhaps we'd learn something we didn't already know about our differences. Judging each other is just silly. I thought you had to be at least 18 to join Rollitup.
p.s.
Bubble for life, no tag backs, I'm rubber and you're glue whatever you say bounces off of me and sticks to you AND I'm crossing my fingers for extra protection. I mean really...?

Med, take some time before you start a thread. Think things through so the very first post doesn't look like you've already had 42 bong hits.

Look who's talking, mr. I'm better than you, I'm rich, you're stupid and BTW you really don't belong on RIU, Mr. elite himself. Talk about taking too many Bong hits. When you drift back to earth, maybe you'll be able to see that just like me, you are human, well maybe not, maybe you are really some alien being. Seems like you are on a different planet than I.
