A new sprout appeared today while I was toiling away at work.

the previous seedling was looking a little parched, so I watered my initial plantings for the first time since planting.

You can see from the pics that the new and younger sprout already looks better than the first.

I have a five gallon bucket that I have prepared some ph balanced water in, the bucket has a lid on it as well to keep out contaminents. Thus far I have been using the same water for five or six days. Im not sure that this method is the best, it is rather convenient though.

you should let the water sit out for a few days with the top off before pHing the water and leaving the lid on

I'm a newb here as well. I also want to learn and smoke some goods that I havent since I was a teen. Just started my flower cycle yesterday. I'm interested in how another newbies grow goes to see if i can learn from some of my mistakes and maybe also give a hint or two to help u out. Oh yeah welcome to RIU its a very resourceful place to learn alot.

water temp doesn't really matter unless it is really hot or cold. If it is room temp that is good. The reason for keeping the lid off is to allow the chlorine and other stuff in the tap water to evaporate

A third sprout has appeared today once again while I was away at work. My first sprout is doing a little better now and has stood up a bit and spread its wings. Only one cup remains without a sprout and hopefully it will come up soon. I am thinking about starting a new batch of seeds soon and just putting them directly in the soil, without germinating the seeds. I read a thread about different techniques here:

My 250W HPS should arrive tommorow, along with my mylar. Im going to try to get everything setup this weekend, once I have all the pieces I need.

I'm a noob who just started growing as well. I currently have 5 plants(two over a month and 3 only a couple weeks) and just put the two older plants on 12/12 to sex them.

I'm documenting it a bit, and will put some pictures up soon.

edit: I planted my seeds directly into soil and they took awhile to sprout.

My fourth and final cup sprouted while I was sleeping last night. I now have sprouts in all four of my original plantings. I will probably start another four or or five plants just to increase my chances of getting at least four females. I doubt that I will enough room for more than four, but some trial and error will be necessary, I figure that I will be able to get around 4 to 6 plants under my light, and I plan on using my CFL'S to give some additional where needed.

I have labeled my cups: A, B, C and D. I had originally planned to name them, but felt that this would be an error and premature considering that the sex of the plants has yet to be determined. I plan on tracking each one throughout the life cycle to determine, after experimentation, what techniques worked best and which ones did not.

A and B were my first planted cups, C and D were planted next. I think you can see the pattern.

I think one looks like a male so far, but my eye is very untrained.

I can't get this damn digital camera to focus close enough on the plants. Any ideas?

If you are unsure then it would seem wise to give it some time and not rush into anything.

I would prefer you did not post pics in this thread, but if you start a thread you can post a link here and I will be glad to help if I can.

I planted 9 new seeds this evening, well 11 actually.

I decided to try planting directly in the soil this time, no germination, no soaking seeds. I just dropped the seed in, covered and watered.

Im not exactly sure how many plants I can cover with my light, or how many will even fit in my space but I think I can handle four plants and I would like to have six. This ratio should give me at least four females if not more.

I dropped one extra seed in two of the cups and marked them. Im just curious to see what happens honestly.

I also knocked over a cup and spilled out a decent portion of the top layer of soil. I scooped it back up and put it back in the cup. I marked this cup as well. The rest are blank for now, I will probably start labeling them as they sprout.

As you can see in these pictures I have a mortal enemy which tries to thwart me at every opportunity.

I must be extra vigilant to make sure that this beast does not destroy my precious work.

im no expert "yet" but from the plants i have going now which is 3 i think ur closet can handle mabey 4 but definitely not 6 unless you plan on doing some serious training to them. but like i said im no expert. whats the dimensions on it.
