Thanks for the info AN Addict 420, i'm heading to the store after work for duct tape. can you get a sea sponge at wal-mart because they have small airstones i seen that would work good for this. plus i like one stop shopping. Yay wal-mart!

I got the tape, couldn't find the sea sponge. Set up my new reflector and 600 watt HPS, tonight the lights go off. I'm excited, can't wait. Question, what's a good distance to keep the light away from the plants as i said this 600 is alot more than i used the first time. Here's some pics.

Very nice! You should keep the light about 1 1/2 to 2 feet away. A good way to tell is place your hand at the top of the plants, and if it feels too warm on your hand, you should move it up some.

yeah i was doing that earlier with my hand at the top of the plants i settled on 14 inches i think. now that i'm in 12/12 i can't go look at them now, i won't be able to see. kinda makes me look forward to morning (not really a morning person 2nd shift job and all)

Yeah, thank you. i'm sure i'll have more questions in the coming weeks.
my new light is so damn bright. after checking on the plants i have a "phantom" light burned into my eyes for like 5 minutes. sunglasses might be a good idea.

Hello, how's it going all? I've been vegging for 4 weeks now, the roots are in deep water. I'm considering removing the pump and feeder tubes. Alot of different opinions on this subject.

IF you do not remove it permanently, then remove and clean it and put it back.

A water pump can harbor dead debris, dead roots, mushy yukey stuff and crap that really screws up the pH. Give your water the sniff test to determine if the water pump is spoiling the water. It should smell like fresh cut iceberg lettuce or alfalfa sprouts, and not stink bad. Most all water pumps have a filter in them that needs cleaning after two weeks, or get the pump out of there after 3 weeks.

After the first two weeks, and then daily, your pH should and will climb from 6.0 to 7.0 in about 18 to 24 hours because the plants are eating the nutes and the water is going down, and becomes more acidity. If the water jumps from 6.0 to 8.0 in a day, or worst, in 8 hours, you have a serious problem, and 99% of the time it is dead debris, dead roots, dead pieces of roots or leaves in the water. And the water pump can hold and hide that crap. Get the filter in the water pump cleaned after two weeks, or after the roots are int he deep water, or get that water pump out and the pH will be more stable.

My concern is about the rockwool, with no feeder tubes won't the rockwool completely dry up or will the plant itself keep the rockwool moist?

After the first two or three weeks, forget that rockwool cube all together and do not give it another thought.
Also this is my first DWC grow and i have a question about changing from grow nutes to flower nutes. I'm using stealth hydro nutes by the way. When you switch to flowering nutes do you use a full dose the first time or work them up to full dose?

I am starting 12/12 tonight in my grow at my DIY Tutorial, I wish you'd follow along with me.
I did a few grows that I started 12/12 and BLOOM nutes at the same time. I have since come to believe in starting 12/12 and still use VEG nutes for two days, then change 100% to BLOOM nutes.
Either way, you use 100% full strenght dose.
I will start 12/12 at 7:30 pm tonight and Saturday, two days later, do a Drain and Replinish with BLOOM nutes.
I also have an outdoor plant however it's been like 40 degrees F in the morning here for like a week. Is that to cold? Kinda bummed because it's a sativa and appears to be a late flowering variety (viper was the strain) not suitable for this climate.:eyesmoke:
When the first FROST is forcasted, chop it the day before the frost.

Thanks for the info Roseman. i have read and am subscibed to your DIY tutorial thread.

i put the water pump back in without the hub or tubes i think the filter helps catch "undesirables" haven't had any serious PH or res temp problems since putting it back in.
gonna switch to SH Bloom nutes on saturday when i drain and replenish.

this will be the third night flowering.
my res temp was 80 F when i got home, i think my light is heating up the room to much.
i have a fan blowing but it is small, a larger one is in order.
so i'm gonna try the frozen 20 oz. bottle for tonight. res change in the morning.

I got my res temp under control it was 74 F this morning, after res change it's holding steady at 68 F.
I switched to Bloom nutes this morning when i did a drain and replenish, i also added 6 tsp of 3% H2O2.
posted some pics.
the last pic is of the runt, note how it's turning trying to get around her sisters.
crazy lookin' huh?

There are at least 6 Bubbleheads around here who started 12/12 and Bloom Cycle this weekend, between Thursday and today.

I'm using stealth hydro nutes and I only have 6 packets of bloom and micro left. I was wondering if i could top off with a different brand of nutes, in this case technafloras recipe for success because i got the starter kit.

Thanks polishfalcon420. Yeah the widow is fantastic smoke. This is my second time with the widow. First one was in soil and these ones DWC, after these results i have no plans to ever use dirt again.
I'm 99% sure i see a female preflower one one of my plants. Is it unusual to see fem preflowers before the male "balls"?

IF you only switched to Bloom nutes yesterday, why do you only have 6 packets left?

You can always switch nutes to a different brand.
