why does water sound like a pain in the ass?

:bigjoint:hey everyone,im still trying to figure out what route to take when watering. I know you need clean water for awhile I was going to use reg tap water,but then recently found out that that wouldnt be to good lol.Ive heard about reverse osmosis water fliters but those are like what? 200-300 dollars. then I went to the grocery store and looked at distilled water which is a dollar a gallon. I did that math out a whole grow would cost me like alot at 1 dollar a gallon 4 weeks veg 10 weeks flower. so im in a gridlock don't want to end up spending alot of money on something like water lol. Thanks in advance

go to the water machines in front of grocery stores or convenient stores... 1.50 gets me 5 gal. if you use r/o water you have to add cal/mag nutrients to the water.

Get moisture, PH, and light meter probe at home depot or lowes (about $10) and check your levels in your soil. If you have PH problems with your soil use a ph increaser or reducer designed for soil and gradually adjust your levels over a few waterings.

NEVER over-water, it will cause multiple issues and stress your plants maybe even kill em, been there, done that.

I think it depends on where you live and local water quality. The water in my area comes from a deep spring and is not treated at all, so is great water for growing, 5.6 ph from the tap.

hmmm really Im really thinking about just using my tap it seems to be good enough. I would I just the ph on it though not sure of how to do that lol. what does the ph need to be again? like 6.5-7.0?

straight tap water is ok here(U.K).
where i live has soft water (6.5-6.8 ph).
but i use bottled mineral water instead.
(i am just a fussy grower).

You can find a decent r/o filter on ebay for under $100.

I use city tap water - after leaving it out to dechlorinate - and my plants love it.

Run an air stone if you plan on keeping stagnant water more than 2 days

Ph paper, or digital meters for an aquraim, or hardware<--if your lucky. PH down same place.

just my tap runs out 8.1+

Tap water is fine. Leave it out for the chlorine to evaporate if you really want to, but honestly, I don't think it makes a noticeable difference.

Not all tapwater is created equal. My tapwater is 500-600 ppm with a pH of 8.5. I've tried using it for growing and it completely screwed my plants. I can't even give my tapwater to the dog.
For those of you who have good tapwater that's great but just remember not everyone is so lucky.

With nutrients in the water my ph ends up at 5.9-6.1 in hydro from my tap water, I haven't used ph up or down the entire grow and I think the plant is doing great, 9-10 days from harvest now. But all depends on your local water quality.

hahaah really I live in the northeast I think my water is pretty clean here I drink it and give it to the dog its fine so I was'nt sure if it would be good? where can I buy a ph tester for the water? and how long would I have to leave the water out?
