Good luck getting any answers. I posted a thread just hours ago asking something about doing a suphur burn. I got no responses.

I did a sulphur burn just today for powdery mildew. It hadn't manifested itself that bad, but I wasn't about to let it ruin the entire crop. I ran my sulphur burner for 4 hours, and exhausted the room for another 4+ hours after that. Things turned out fine. I was kinda scared to turn the lights back on because I was concerned about burning them, but it turned out ok. For such a small area, you need far less time than me, and venting it should be alot shorter too. Just make sure your lights are off, and the air pump for your res if off.

fill the can about halfway.

the first burn i usually burn 4 hours. then an hour or 2 after that.

i turn off EVERYTHING when i burn.

after burning turn exhaust fans back on. i burn during dark hours.

i usually burn 2 times a week for preventive measures.

my buddy had his on a timer. it kicked on for an hour every night. he left his fans running while he burnt. he had no mildew problems.

hope this helps. :peace::joint::joint:

i forgot that part; you want it set pretty low. i have mine at 6 i think. it's just above the coils. it leaves a powdery residue above it on the ceiling.

Hey man, I just wanted to say that 5 hrs sounds way too long for such a small grow area. All you need to do is fill the room with it. Different amounts will be necessary for different sized rooms. Didn't you say it was 3 X 3 X 4? That's only 36 cubic ft! I'd say leave the thing on for 90 minutes at most, then turn it off. Let the gas stay in the room for a few more hours, then exhaust the gas for another few hours. THEN you can turn your lights on, and resume as normal.

Hey fdd, since you live in NorCal is it true that in the fall during the grape crush at the numerous vineyards powdery mildew is rampant? That's what a guy at the hydro store told me.

they've been spraying sulphur on the vineyards by the lake all year. it's HELLA stinky so they must be using A LOT. we have the coastal fog which brings a lot of moisture inland in the evenings. i have it here year round.

i do all my burning during dark hours. i turn my exhaust off while my burner is on. i have to sneak in to do it.

Makes sense. He should know also know that if he's sprayed any sort of oil on his plants recently that he runs the risk of burning them really bad. Sulphur will stick to it like glue and the plant will run into serious problems.

We're neighbors from the sound of things btw.:peace::joint:

your low setting is six? Mine only goes up it 4 and I thought that 1 was the lowest?? ummm
mine goes from 1 - 10. 10 being the closet to the heating element. or the "hottest" setting. i'm at 6. :joint:

lowest as in lower down. i see where it could get confusing. bongsmilie

Great info - I wanted to ask a quick question in addition though.

If you are continually burning as a preventive - is it safe to assume that you arent emptying out the big cunk of sulfur? I used mine a few times and it worked but I was just wondering if this big chunk or the leftover will be inert since it's been sitting there for a few months.

Thanks!

THis might seem silly, but am i safe in assuming that you arent changing out the sulfur each day?

Thanks.
