Prop 215 Grow 1.2

Nope, I got it immediately. ;) Now, T didn't. I had to explain it to him! I told him, "It's just like me: you know I don't support much of the gov't goings on, including all the military and warring, etc. But that doesn't change that I fully support, and even applaud, the individuals who selflessly go out and do what most others never would." I think he got it then. ;)

My grow's going great! I'm flipping to 12/12 sometime this next week, once my new inline fans arrive and are installed, so that I can finally close the damn tent without temperature or humidity issues! My two seedlings will get to veg much larger than these four, as they'll still be growing (and of course having lots of BDSM, lol) while these babies are flowering.

Got the new light fixture hung last night. WOW, so much brighter than the CFLs were! I literally get blinded for a couple hours if I don't wear shades when I check or work on them! Also, my tent is 2'x4' and the lights are 18"x4', so the entire tent is now illuminated instead of less than half! Now they're spread out instead of being crammed against each other, so they shouldn't crowd each other while flowering. I can still easily fit two more in there to complete my six plant limit, and still no over-crowding! :D Once my WW seeds arrive, I'll plant a couple/few of those as well, about two weeks apart (I won't go above six mature plants at once, due to my MMJ status and needing to make sure there's no trouble with the law; not that I have run-ins with them, but ya know!), and each will go to flower when it's vegged long and large enough. I'm still aiming for a perpetual; harvest one plant every two weeks which will keep my six-mature-plant-maximum just right. :hump:

I'm going to post "recap" photos along with today's, because it's been so long since my last full round of photos. (The first is of my cuttings in the AG; I took that one earlier today to show someone how I ventilated the humidity domes.) It's been 17 days since I started inflicting BDSM on these babies, and the growth has amazed me! The pots are turned in a way that the most "sparse" parts of the plants are in front, because the "markers" (plastic spoons LOL) are facing forward for easy ID. But that doesn't hide the amount of growth they've had since I started tying these babies down!

And here I was going to make a "short" post.... SHEESH!!! lmao

I'm wondering now if Queen's song "Tie Your Mother Down" was about growing pot.... ???
Looking good Kat.. where did you get that Tent?.. that looks Koo to keep a mother plant..

hey kat lots been goin on around here...cops raided my neighbors house lookin for drugs...they are really good ppl who dont even smoke....needless to say i got scared and cut all the plants down :( i was flushing 3 of them so it was just an early harvest for those babies but i had to kill at least 23 other plants in various stages of growth...there goes my perpetual grow :(

im gonna start back up when things cool down i managed to save my white widow genetics in 2 plants and have moved them to a safer location,,,i think im gonna have to grow less plants but veg them longer so i can yield more per plant....do you know anything about growin big tall plants..i dont..lol
but ive heard u can yeild alot more per plant so it sounds perfect for me

on another note hows ur man i know ur happy to have him back thats soo cool
Holy wow! I guess those cops had nothing better to do, raiding a house of "straight edge" people! (Yeah, I know what straight edge is, but it's a good comparison. lol) Wonder what made them think they'd have a bust there?! That just sucks for your neighbors and for you! At least you got some of them harvested; better early than never!

My plan is to go perpetual with no more than six mature plants at any given time (gotta keep my medical grows legal), one harvest every two weeks. As close to "trees" as my soon-to-be grow room allows, so I can maximize my six mature plant limit. Even my current two seedlings will end up pretty decent-sized bushes, as much as my tent and/or time will allow.

Thing is, even though I've got five feet of vertical space in my tent (after subtracting pot and light fixture height), I'm loving the LST so much that until I'm able to do "trees" several months down the road, the LST will most definitely allow me to grow even really tall strains without exceeding my height limit. I'm only limited to bushes instead of trees for now because my tent is 2'x4', and there's no way I can fit six trees in there; maybe one! They get wider than tall, if done "right" from what I've seen.

As it is, my plants would be at least 12" if not 18" tall if they weren't tied down! The horizontal growth is awesome! With the "raised" height I have my chains right now (i.e., for maintenance and taking photos, etc.), they're 24" from the floor. Yet the plants are barely reaching above the 9" tall pots. At this rate, even with double-to-triple size once flowering, I don't think I'll even have to readjust the chains to go higher than they are now for the "raised" height! Yet I'm getting more and more bud sites growing up to meet the others at the top every few days or so! So you don't necessarily need to go "tall" in order to have a great yield. I know I won't have a huge yield my first harvest, but I equally know that it's going to be huge compared to what it would have been had I not LSTd them!

From what I've been reading, the main keys to growing very large plants is to use (of course LOL) large enough pots to accomodate the massive roots you'll end up having, and lots of training. M Blaze FIMs his plants, and then LSTs them into indoor TREES throughout the grow. The ones I've got going now are "straight" LST. (They got topped, but only the very tips which I used for cuttings in my AG.) I'm going to experiment with my next several seedlings: some will be "straight" LST, others will be topped like UB's "four cola" technique and then LST those new "main" branches. Etc. (Although LST basically makes all bud sites pretty much "main" branches; manipulating them correctly redistributes the auxins so that they're not focused only on the main cola, but instead the plant is basically "fooled" into thinking that all the new & large bud sites are "main" colas. In a nutshell. lol) Once I find the method that produces the most yield, of course I'll stick with that. I'm sure it's strain dependent though, so that'll be factored in as well.

It really doesn't look like bushes/trees are difficult at all. Pretty much just what I've been doing RE: training the last couple of weeks, albeit on a larger scale/timeline. I was going to veg till these babies got pretty big, but it's taking way too long to wait for my first harvest. So each subsequent plant will (in theory LOL) be larger than the last, till I get them as big as I can with whatever space I'll have alotted.

I've been doing a lot of reading on LST and SCROG, the first of which I already know really is so very easy! I'm going to also try SCROG on some plants in the very near future (kinda thinking about trying it on at least part of this batch) and see what that does for me. It's really another form of LST, but done with a screen instead of just ties. Point being, you don't necessarily have to grow them tall to maximize your yield with fewer plants! Of course wide and tall would produce even more, but if you don't have a lot of vertical space, then train your plants to be really wide and with as level a canopy as possible with LST, SCROG, super cropping (I'm not sure yet if I want to do that one LOL), etc.

Think "bonzai" but on a larger scale. ;)

These are good starting studies IMNSHO. Very in depth and detailed. Getting down the LST and/or SCROG (the latter if wanting to keep the plants really short) appears to be the way to go for maximizing yield on a few plants rather than having a forest in your home.
A complete guide to topping, training and pruning
The Scrog Method

Just found this right now; short 'n' sweet SCROG description/instruction. :D
Marijuana plants are very plyable if you use tender tlc.... you can literally set a screen on the top of your plants then only train while flowering carfully either tucking/weaving the tops throughout the screen, or totally train to keep the plant underneath... when a shoot sprouts through the screen carefully put it back through the same hole it came from and guide it underneath. when the stretch stops only the budsights will continue to grow vertically leaving all vegetative growth under the screen and thus out of the canopy.
ANYHOOO, most of my time online (which means the majority of my waking moments lately LOL) has been spent reading on RIU and elsewhere about how I can grow the largest healthiest plants I possibly can. I've copied/pasted some of it (going to copy more as I find it) into a "notes" folder. When I've gathered a good amount of reliable info, I'm planning on creating a thread that will be a compilation of all the great advice I've found for indoor trees. (Credit given to authors; I don't plagiarize!;)) Not everyone can (or should? lol) grow a hundred or more plants, so the rest of us gotta make do with what we've got!

I'll take note of solid info I find, and at the least post it in this thread for the time being, to share with those who want to do what my goal is, and now yours.... huge harvests without a huge number of plants! :hump:

eBay! I got this one, from the same seller. That's his (her? lol) smallest right now. Seller had the best price I could find for a 7' tall tent, shipping was fast, etc.; on my "favorite" seller list. :D

I'm thinking of using mine for drying/curing once we get a house. I can use it to store my jars of cured bud in there too, keep everything together and in the room that no one enters without my express permission! ;) Great tent, IMNSHO.

Everything is looking quite peachy, KAT! Glad to hear things are going good with your hubby, haha!

:joint::peace:
Thanks Fox! Yeah, we're so used to being together again that we're back to our frequent bickering. We don't fight (well, we have about three or four times for less than ten minutes each throughout the years, then talked it out after cooling down and all that jazz, but that's it), but we do tend to bicker over silly things. I think that's what keeps us from fighting, really... we're always letting out the small stuff before it can fester into something big. I'd much rather us nitpick than endure deployment, and it's not like that's the only (or even main) dynamic to our relationship! ;)

Whats up kat sounds like you got everything under control
Yeah, I think I do, too! Hopefully it'll stay that way, eh? :blsmoke:

So, this is what happens when you tie down a limb just a bit too tight. I used a paper clip (gently!) for a splint. It's not broken all the way through, just the surface; I'd say it's surely less than a quarter of the stem, so it'll heal in no time.

My inline fans arrived a bit ago. I was so happy! Until I opened one of the boxes, and found that there's no cord! One would think that Home Depot's site would state this in the section listing what it does and does not include, as not everyone buying one of these is a contractor or otherwise has experience with inline fans. I don't know when these can be installed now, because we are flat broke!

Well, guess they're just gonna veg longer after all! I simply can't close the tent without exhaust. Not in this old, poorly insulated, hot house! I wonder how much longer I'll be stuck with brick weed...

Did another round of BDSM  this morning. They look so sad in these photos... right after being tied and tucking leaves that block light to new potential bud sites. But of course in a day or two they're gonna look happy and perky again after they reach for the light! :D

After thought:
I may be a Chronic Insomniac From Hell  but Tom gets up at 5am for work. The lights turn on right then for now, while in veg. They'll be turning on probably at 8am for flower. I'll just ask him to open the tent for me each morning. Then I can close the tent and flip to 12/12, as it doesn't get hot in there without the lights running!

I'll of course still get whatever parts are needed to install these suckers, but I just now realized that there's a workaround for the time being. :hump:

Thanks AK! Turns out the break in the stem is a bit deeper than I'd thought. But it's still attached, and there's been no wilting or yellowing, etc. So it just may heal. :) Been checking out your thread, always do. ;) Hard to keep up though, so many posts each day!

One, I don't have tons of subscribers; at least not many that post comments. Two, genatalia has nothing to do with why a few people post to my thread (a few of my subscribers are, GASP, women). Three, the men that have exchanged comments with me on RIU have been nothing but respectful, treating me as a person who just happens to be growing like they are; they've never once even insinuated that it's my vagina that matters. As a matter of fact, most members on RIU have just assumed I'm just another guy, not noticing my purple font or sometimes even my avatar.

You're the first person on RIU to make reference to my genatalia. Observing that I'm indeed a woman is one thing, and an undeniable one; and yes, more female growers should be "coming out" more on these sites, IMNSHO. Pointing out that I have a vagina, and further that that must be the reason there are 24 pages of posts (check the men's grow journals: most of them have many more pages of posts than mine, in a shorter period of time than this thread has been going), would invariably be taken as an insult by any woman who has a shred of self respect. However, for the time being I will give you the benefit of doubt and take your remarks as having had complimentary intent.

That said, thank you for complimenting my grow (despite environmental obstacles I've encountered, I do happen to have a "green thumb" as they say) and organization. Especially since I'm generally not a very organized person; although once I've gotten something organized I then become extremely OCD about it remaining that way; to say the least! lol

Wait.... we're now on page 12, not 24! You threw me!

P.S. Just to be clear, I'm far from a feminist, or anything of the sort. I simply expect the same respect from others that I give to them. :D

You took it the wrong way. Just an observation.... happens on every MJ site im a member of, And honestly "that guy doesnt get it"... just shut up. Wasnt even meant like that, But it is a fact weather anybody admits it or not, If you gotta vagina... dudes will swarm your grow. Even if you were growing squash. etc etc. No big deal it was just what i said it was..... AN OBSERVATION. And an accurate one. Its just how it goes usually, Period.

You did not have to waste a paragraph trying to make me look
like some shovanistic douchebag. I dont see the dis-respect
in the comment. It was basically a completely harmless statement.

Carry on with your grow...... No disrespect was meant.
You took it the wrong way, and wasted a paragraph on it.

a big girl, she can say what she needs without instigation.

um..... Girl powah!!??!!!:eyesmoke:

One need not read between the lines when the writer is transparent.

How is informing someone that I don't appreciate being referred to as a body part (i.e., an object) taking something the wrong way?

You're entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts.

An observation about a woman on a grow site is observing that she happens to be a woman on a grow site, not that she has a vagina. No one refers to men around here as "those who have penises" now, do they? I rest my case.

Swarms of men on my thread? Check again, buddy. Considering the ratio of men to women on this site, it would be expected that most people commenting to any thread would be.... men.

Further, you might as well just say that all men are as driven by their penises as you show yourself to be. How unthinkable that men might comment in women's grow journals because they genuinely want to help and/or genuinely think they've got good grows! Does this also mean that women subscribe and comment to men's grow journals because they have penises? Perhaps this country should go back to segregation, RE: race, gender, and anything else that makes us "different" from others.

You did not have to waste a paragraph trying to make me look like some shovanistic douchebag.
Nope, you did that all by yourself.

I dont see the dis-respect in the comment.
Of course you don't. Nor did I expect you to see it.

It was basically a completely harmless statement.
I'll bet you don't have very much luck with the ladies. Note "lady" is the key word; bar flies don't count.

Carry on with your grow...... No disrespect was meant.
You took it the wrong way, and wasted a paragraph on it.
Who's the one going on a tangent, writing more than a paragraph? (Albeit the same one over and over, with slightly different wording.) I didn't throw a fit like you're doing. I was polite, concise, and direct. Or is that the problem? Can't handle women who assert themselves rather than be spineless bimbos?

I'll decide if a paragraph I wrote in my own thread in response to an asinine "observation" was a waste. It wasn't.

And "wannabee", Shoulda just not said anything shes a big girl, she can say what she needs without instigation.
No, you shouldn't have gone out of your way to inform someone that the reason anyone's posting to her grow journal is because she has a vagina. It is indeed disrespectful. Even if you truly believe it isn't, the fact remains that I do, and a simple apology for crossing the line (or just simple silence if "I'm sorry" is too difficult for you to say) is all you needed to do. Justifying your childish, "shovanistic" (sic) behavior doesn't magically make it respectful.

Just because you make a pastry with the best ingredients and the best frosting in the world then fill it with shit doesn't make it not a shit filled pastry.

um..... Girl powah!!??!!!:eyesmoke:
Um.... fail!!??!!!

Oh + rep for acting like i pissed ALL in your grow room.
No, more like pissed all over yourself.

I'm not worried about you "pissing ALL in my grow room" (nor my grow journal) because you are not welcome here. I responded to you with courtesy; calmly and politely telling you not to speak to me with what I consider disrespectful towards me. I didn't ask you how your remarks to me made you feel. I also said I would give you the benefit of doubt, but you blew that as well. You're the one who got all scrappy.

Get off the cross. Some of us need the wood.

And while you're at it, get off of my thread. :finger:

So much drama, so little energy....

He just said the same thing three different ways in three different paragraphs... hehe...:eyesmoke:
You noticed that too, eh?

ANYHOOO.... so I released the all but the "foundation" ties on my babies last night, will leave them untied for a few days or so. Let them breathe and stretch like they want to do. Then, just when they think they've got control again, I'll re-tie them. There are going to be many good-sized bud sites thanks to the LST! Can't wait to see how bushy they get in the next few weeks!

OH, I'm returning the inline fans I ordered from Home Depot. I found an exhaust blower that's assembled with a cord and everything, will be much easier to mount, and is quieter and more powerful than inline fans. Once that gets here and is installed, then I can flip to 12/12 and be on my way! Until then, my babies will have about a week longer than I'd planned to bulk up and grow up to be bushes! :hump:
