Newbie grow with mistakes, what should I do from here?

Are these plants sexed already? If not the larger they get the more problems you may encounter later. Assuming you wait another 3-4 weeks till you flower, that's 3-4 more weeks of growth of the male roots (hopefully you don't have any, but odds are against you). 18 gallons is a really nice size for 4 plants, but in seperate containers, and assuming they are all female.

no they aren't sexed yet, but the two options I have both have draw backs,

option 1 flower now so i can quickly sex them and free up room. the drawback is smaller yield due to plant size and flowering with CFL's

option 2 veg plants with the cfls for another 4 weeks, install hid and start flowering and sex plants. the drawback is any males take up space, roots, light consumption and so on

You have 4 plants, just clone all four of them. Get the clones good and ready for when you get your new light (don't stick them in the same pot). That way whatever you end up doing you at least have a good chance of having some clones of a female for your next round.

Ok, so I think I've come up with a game plan that'll work for me, tell me what you think.

I want to get 6 Y's and 6 42W CFL's so I can hopefully get more light to the whole plant not just the tops, then i'll get some cloning gel so I can pull 2 clones from each plant so I can have them ready when my HID arrives, when it does I'll start flowering these 4 with the HPS and continue to veg the 8 clones with the CFL set up. (Killing all males when I find out whats what with these 4)

All of this will begin this weekend as thats when I get the money for supplies.

This thread is the reason I decided to beef up the CFL setup and use it to veg, https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/8513-cfl-vs-floro-vs-hps.html

Here are a few new pic's

I would go with a couple of more than just 2 from each plant. Cloning is hit and miss sometimes. You want a guarantee that one of them will root, and the best way to do this is increase your odds. Read up on cloning, I myself like humidity domes. Similar to what nongreenthumb does on his thread, although I don't remember seeing a humidity dome on his. The schultz rooting hormone works, but if I were to buy something again I'd probably go with a gel.

Thanks for the comment Dr. High, and thanks for the info Smoker you've been very helpful. As far as the clones your right I'll probably go with 4 per plant, and use an upsidedown clear rubbermaid tub as a makeshift dome (the closest hydro shop is 3 hrs away so most of my supplies come from HD or lowes). Here's a link to the cloning guide I planned on using, its from a different site but its very illustrated and IMO made well, Marijuana Cloning | How to Clone Female Marijuana, Cannabis, Weed and Pot Plants Indoors tell me what you think.

also last night I tied back my other two plants to try and give them more room here's a pic.

With cfls don't you have to start flowering soon? I know light penetration is a bitch with those things.

why won't anyone use floros anymore. you get more coverage for the wattage used and they work just fine. why all the CFL craze?

so much more coverage without all the fixtures and Y splitters......

I'm with you fdd, I use 160 watts of flourescent. Many a plants will fit under there, veg and clone an army.

I have four 4' floro fixtures and would love to use them but my closet is 2" to small and I have too many children to set them up anywere else

yea i just made a new veg box and bought a shit load of cfls and y splitters.. then realized i still did not have enough space for my plants in the box.. i wish i saved the money and got some fluorescents

CFL's make people vanish from the site. People claim yields that are greater than HID, but when it's time to put up....they roll out.

Quick question ( I tried looking it up didn't find much )
Out of all four of my plants this is the only branch that has alternating nodes.
I've seen this before on other peoples plants but I've never known why it does it? is it maturity, strain, stress or something along those lines? Here take a look

Also here are a few other pic's

Look how much they filled in, in only 5 days

Holy crap it took me 50x longer to find all the supplies than it did to actually clone them, not one nursery or store in town sold any type of starter plug or rockwool and there was only one that sold root hormones (shultz powder) so thats what I'm using along with solo cups and soil. I ended up taking 3 per plant. take a look and let me know what you think
