When does a seedling enter the vegatative stage?

How long is a seedling a seedling before it is considered to have entered the vegatative stage and once in the veg state how long until it pre-flowers?

My seeds broke ground last month, in two days they will be four weeks old. I would like to start the 12/12 cycle in two more weeks. Is that to early?

I think the average grower on here starts flower at the 3-4 week mark of their grows. I normally let them go at least 4 weeks before starting 12/12

They are now just over four weeks old. I'm using a T-5, four foot, four tube light. Heat concerns in my closet with no air conditioning. I have a tower fan at one end and two four inch computer fans rated for ninety cubic feet a minute. One for intake one for exhaust in the ceiling.

I have nine plants in a closet 2 by 5 by 8. Four THC Bombs, two Caramelicious and three very good bagseed. I should be ok after the males show themselves and I thin them out. I'm keeping the males for pollen, seperate of course from the females.

The next biggest thing I have to look forward to in my life is dying. I've lived to become a senior citizen, I hope I have learned a bit about the art of patience.

I tried to fim six of the plants, ended up taking the tops out of three. I'm trying to keep them as compact as possible. I had one growing like wildfire so I figured it would be a male and really cut the top out. I won't sacrifice light to the rest of the plants for one. The two tallest are about a foot. They are also the sparsest, I'm figuring they are males. Who knows? The rest on average are about ten inches and I have two that have really stayed compact. One is about six inches the other about five.

once it sprouts it's in veg, once the photoperiod changes to 12/12 it will induce flower.

the seedling stage generally lasts about two weeks, and this is the period in which the plant is primarily focusing on root growth (and consequently, above soil growth is relatively slow going). Though from your pictures, they are far past the seedling stage.

Once any plant has sprouted from a seed it is in veg state,it will remain in the vegative stae untill either if grown out side autum come upon us.or in most cases once the timer is changed from 18/6.unless it is a auto strain and this will flower on it's own.but that does not feed veg feed to seeds let them get going alittle before you decide to flower them i normaly let them get a foot in height.but if the plant that you have let it grow and get to 2 foot bigger if you have the time then clone them to f@ck and wait untill all the clones have rooted and are around 10cm tall then flower them all,sea of green this can be a realy good way of growing and give you maxamin yeild.

forme when i have a well established root mass is when my vegging starts. generaly is about 2 to 3 weeks after i transplant.

Looks like you are doing quite well. You are right patience is the most important thing. Watering three times a day and taking them out everyday for photo ops and all that just causes extra stress, they do best when you just close the door and forget about them for awhile and don't worry about rushing everything.

This is my second grow. My first was all bagseed. I wanted to try to make most of my first time mistakes not on my good beans that I paid for. I pretty much got the first grow giddies and mistakes out of my system and this one I'm taking much more seriously. Fox farms soil and supplements. My major nutes are 24-8-16 I just finished my first gallon of quarter strength and have one more mixed at half strength. I also add cal-mag and sweet to my waterings. I adjust all my liquids to 6.5ph before watering. Once I commence 12/12 I'll be switching to an orchid bloom mix of 11-35-15 and continuing with the fox farm supplements. I'm using grow big, big bloom and tiger bloom. I'll have some new pics to post in a day or three. I can hardly keep my own eyes off them.

The seedling stage can vary from two weeks to a full month. I have one seedling that I've had to start on a nutrient regimen because the cotyledons got used up completely keeping the seedling alive through a bad pH issue. I have another seedling, same age, not using any nutrients, and the cotyledons are still green and somewhat plump, if not smaller than they initially were, that plant has not had any issues at all in the reservoir.

Usually the vegetative stage starts when the cotyledons can no longer support the plant. It's past the initial baby growth stages and is ready to become a full-blown plant. Think of the cotyledon's purpose as the 'yolk' for a baby plant.

Wow, looking gorgeous. If you are using T-5 flouros then start flowering soon, you'll want to keep the height quite short. The best trick I have learned for keeping them short is topping (which you have done), and also supercropping.

If you are not familiar, you basically take the tallest branch on her and pinch it a couple of nodes from the top. Pinch it hard, like crush the stem. Let it fall over to the side and within 48 hours it will recover. The result is the lower branches go nuts and the top grows slow-it makes a bush!

Here is a pic of my 5 ladies with that principle applied. Nice looking grow!

Yeah, FIMing works great for creating lots of bud sites. I like to cut off all the lower branches for cuttings during veg stage, then supercrop the top branches. Once the lower branches start reaching the top of the plant, then those get topped. The end result is major bud sites and a low bushy plant that is wide. Right now mine are 2' tall on day 6 of flowering, but I have a 1000W switchable ballast so I can get them nice and big before flowering.

I can tell you are passionate about "the craft", I am as well. I have all the passion of a stoner and the knowhow of a scientist and an engineer so the results are some pretty bitchin' ladies.

They do fine. Most of my first grow, the buds were airy, but darn good, and it was all bagseed. My partners were the same and he had almost fifty thousand lumens going in his closet. We had one plant that had nice hard buds. I'm starting to think that some of it is the light and some is the genetics. I've tried to keep them short so the light doesn't have to travel far once budding started. We'll see what happens. I don't really care so much either way, it's all getting ground up for the vaporizer.
