Let's start a thread listing some of the myths you have heard about growing, that way when someone gets some advice about how to do something because a friend of a friend says it works everytime that people will know not to do it because it is a myth.

dude, thats such a great idea!!! I cant believe nobody thought of that yet!!! lets try to get it stickied in the newb forum. once you get info in it of course:P, 1. flowering clones take longer to root. 2. chlorine hurts cannabis. 3. roots and buds only grow in the dark. 4. the color of the pistil is what you should use to chop plant or not. theirs 4 i thought of right away.....any more off the top of your heads?

Number 1 is actually true. Not really a myth. Flowering clones does take longer to root than clones off the bottom of a veg plant. What is a myth is that you can't take clones off a flowering plant and have it root.

Bump

I thought there were a bunch of myths we could post and this is it ?

How about Switching to 12/12 will force your plant to flower ?

It isn't true because the plant will only flower when it is mature enough to do so and forcing it into 12/12 only causes un needed stress. Switching to 12/12 doesn't force anything it just provides the right condition for the plant to flower the way it was meant to. It gives mature plants the condition it needs to signal a change in its growth and tell it that it is time to change it's focus to reproducing, 12/12 lets the plant know winter is coming and to survive it needs to reproduce. So it starts budding or creating pollen sacks to create seeds so that it may live on the following year.

Take your grand dad's advice and drive a nail through that main stem toward the end of flowering. It'll stress her out and make her produce more resin right at the end.

I got one.
A buddy once told me. When harvesting to shake all the dirt from the root ball.
And put it in a pot of boiling water.
To force all the nutes and trichs out of the roots.

Maybe we should add in mistakes you've made and learned from in the past, that would helpful to pass along also.

whoever says u cant use tap water is full of donky doo. tap water works just fine...
Definitely agree with that, I've gotten my best results with plain old tap water. As long as it is safe enough to drink and no chlorine in it, works just fine.

i have one but it might be regional.
look at your bag seeds, the ones with straight lines will grow into males plants, the ones with wavy lines will be females?
or the little white seeds will be males, and the big green ones females.

i actually don't know if there's any truth to the first one.
