I actually have a blacklight so I am interested to see if this is how you do it, but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with limiting the oxygen

i have seen countless threads like this and from what i have read only certain strains have the ability to just turn purple due to certain conditions and doing so stresses them and literally makes no difference in the smoke, if You want purple buds simply get a purple strain

like 2 people i know told me to use a blacklight, but i dont think it has anything to do with limiting oxygen, like i think you leave the black light on only at night, but for some reason i also think you leave it on during the morning and dont even use normal light, but i could be wrong. but yea if it works for you, tell me man!

Purple strains are like a genetic variant in a plant. I have had a certain seed, for example Nightshade, that had green plants, and purple buds, and some that were green / green. Its like eye coloring in a human, some females and males genes mix a certain way to form these variants, resulting in purple bud. As well, there are strains you can purchase that have been genetically set up to produce purple buds exclusively, ex: purple haze (the real kind) usually seed manufacturers / growers will specify this condition.. That blacklight shit is highly incorrect that will do nothing, thats an old wives tale.

So.. I don't believe its been proven that stress and different conditions will produce this purple bud. But, I highly believe it is in the genetics of the plants and is like a variable, and if that variable is not consistently reproduced its just going to be random.

don't waste your time, a blacklight will not work, buy a strain that turns purple.
buy your seeds online...

The following are pics of Blueberry (dutch passion) although these pics do not belong to me I am currently growing this strain & can tell you that reducing the temps during the light cycle helps tuen the buds into a purple complexion which is what Im trying to do.

Enjoy the pics.

Has to be a strain that does it first..... and I've heard colder temperatures during night/darkness during flowering will help push the plants to turn purple... they have to have the genetics to allow them to do it in the first place though

yea if you give them colder nights like 55 degrees or so it can turn em purple i know from first hand experience ...

also flush the shit out of them like two weeks of flushing with no nutes so they use up all nitrogen in plant when they do that they show diff colors i have seen crazy purples and even some red in leaves and buds ...

The only way to get truly and distinctly purple buds is to grow a purple strain. So if you want middies that look good and smoke decent, buy one of the gazillion purple strains and grow it.

Colder temps and all these other methods of turning regular strains purple only work to certain degrees and never really get you purple buds. My advice - grow a white strain. They're strong, stable, and kick ass (just my opinion).

I hear if you do DWC you can put ice in the reservoir to pull this off, but all the same this is just a rumour...

What do I know?

ya i dont do hydro but im pretty sure that would either kill em or turn em hermie. you know this could just be me but i dont believe in purposely stressing a plant at all unless doing so will result in a higher yield or higher potency....
