Not sure what the laws are in Florida, but dude GET A LAWYER!! As much as I hate how they're able to make a living off the unfortunate bullshit of others, going up against the system without arming yourself to the fullest extent is not wise. Shop around, but be wise. The effort they put forth in trying to sell their services to you is very indicative of how they'll treat your case. One rule of thumb, if after you've given your story of what happened and heard their schpeel, if they don't offer up THEIR personal cell ph #, don't go with them. Also, look for an A/V rated attorney- they tend to have the most pull in their hometowns which can be more important than the truth in many cases. It might cost you a good chunk of change, but if you value your permanent record, it's worth it.
