less watering, more nutrients?

since my plants dont absorb all the water in the soil for about 8 days on average, im limited to watering every 7-9 days.

Because of the limited watering, should i be giving more nutrients? how do i know if the plants are or are not uptaking the nutrients and the water is still sitting there?

well im only watering with a half a gallon of water for 5 gallon pots. and the pots stay really damp until about 8 or 9 days most of the time. see any problem with this?

ive been flowering(12/12) for about 8 weeks and 3 days, I have watered only 7 times as of 2 days ago.

I had issues in the first 2 weeks with day time heat and night time colds, but then corrected the problems. buds didnt start forming until about 2 and half weeks ago so im thinking they are at about week 4-5 with 3-4+ more weeks to go.

ive picked up Fox Farms : Open sesame, Beastie Bloomz, and Cha ching but i think my watering schedule (once every 8 days) might mess up the intake of the proper amount of nutrients or make me miss a week of feeding, being that it says use every other water once a week.

yes youneed to let that soil dry. the only time you want to double up any nutes.is during the last 30 days in flower.

You need to water until you have 10% runoff. I water my 3 gallon pots with around a gallon to a gallon and a half. of water everytime.

i was thinking the same thing and then i read this and it can be used as a stand alone.

Fox Farm Soluble Tri-Pak Nutrient:
The Fox Farm Soluble Tri-Pak includes everything to supercharge the flower potential in any garden! Proceeds from Fox Farm Soluble Tri-Pak sales goes to the Hydro for Hunger initiative that battles hunger around the world.
Each of the three solubles have pH balanced blends with extra-strength micro and macro nutrients. Tri-pak can supplement an existing feeding schedule or be used as a stand alone nutrient in soil or hydroponics systems.
Open Sesame (NPK: 5-45-19) encourages early flowering and ripening.
Beastie Bloomz (NPK: 0-50-30) encourages maximum blossom development and heavy fruit.
Cha Ching (NPK: 9-50-10) improves taste and aroma by concentrating the plants oils into the flower or fruit.

yeah that question has come to mind a few times here also. but everything in my mind is telling me every other watering. im sticking to what my gut is telling me. i think it would be more beneficial to give them straight water every other time, maybe its like a mini flush when you do it that way.

if your only using at 1/2 strength you can probly use it every time you water.

Nope that's not how to do it. Let the soil completely dry in between waterings and water completely. Keep the nutes the same, I don't understand why you think you need to increase the nutes.
DO NOT LET DRY OUT!

"Roots soon hit the sides of containers where they grow down and mat up around the bottom. The unnatural environment inside the container often causes a thick layer of roots to grow alongside the container walls and bottom. This portion of the root zone is the most vulnerable to moisture and heat stress and is the most exposed.

When soil dries in a pot, it becomes smaller, contracting and separating from the inside of the container wall. The condition is worst in smooth plastic pots. When this crack develops, frail root hairs located in the gap quickly die when they are exposed to air whistling down the crevice. Water also runs straight down this crack and onto the floor. You may think the pot was watered, but the root ball remains dry. Avoid such killer cracks by cultivating the soil surface and running your finger around the inside lip of the pots. Cultivate the soil in pots every few days and maintain evenly moist soil to help keep root hairs on the soil perimeter from drying out."

im not having any obvious nute problems.

Im not sure if anyone helped me, but i think imma just start watering more.

i usually wait until the top layer of soil is completely dry, and usually dig my finger into the soil about an inch or two to see if its still wet, but i will no longer be making sure its 100% dry, and just go ahead and water anyway

conclusion: will now be watering twice a week, whether or not the soil feels dry enough.
