cmon load it on me.
you can use cfls of mh(metal halide) for vegatation b/c it gives more blue light in the light spectrum which benifits good growth during the veg period. For flowering when u put the lights in 12/12 use a hps(high pressure sodium) light. This has more red in the light spectrum which is more benificial in flowering stage. Good luck. You prob answered this before because it's a super newb question but...
If I'm planning on using a 4x4x6.5 grow tent, what light(s) should I use?
Thanks!
Toxic, you can veg as long as you want, in theory even up to a year. Usually you stay on a 24/0 or an 18/6 (your choice) and then switch to a 12/12 to induce flowering. Its up to you. I recommend changing to 12/12 after they are a foot tall. 12/12 light schedule is what induces flowering.OK, I have a question, though it might be waaaay to simple for you I still need an answer and it sure beats posting a whole new thread up! So, I got Sensi Skunk from Amsters and it says that its flowering lasts for about 45-50 days-ish. What I want to know is, how exactly do I know when to switch the light cycles? Currently I have 2 little plant sprouts so they are real tiny at the moment, so im keeping them on 24/7 light for a couple weeks, but after that, do I switch to 18h cycle and if I do, for how long? After that stage is finished, then what? Am I looking for the plants to tell me when to switch light cycles or do I have to keep track of the times?
We had an intense discussion about Vegetative light schedules yesterday, ill get you the link. But 20/4 was considered the best. 18/6 is better than 24/0. And it will not stress them by changing the light schedule in veg. 1ft is good if your gonna have a couple plants, but the taller you let them get before the switch the more bud. Obviously there is genetic limitations. Also an indicator that they are ready to flower is when they show preflowers along the main stem, where the petiole meets the main stem.Awesome Lampshade! Thanks!
Also, if I switch cycle when they are a foot tall will I still be getting the maximum I can out of them? I want these ones to go smooooothly. Last time I tried growing I got a new job and had to cut them down, it was tragic.
Are their any ways that the plants shows its ready for the 'next stage'?
Would it screw up my babies if I switched from the current 24/0 cycle to a 18/6 cycle as an 18/6 cycle would sure as hell help keep the bill and noise down!
Also, just as a side Q, is their any advantages/disadvantages to a 18/6 cycle or a 24/0 cycle and if so, what?
Thanks

Mh are alot better and if you have a small garden 1 or two is just fine. They are great for veg cause they omit a blue light spectrum. HPS if you want one (Iwould get two) 150 watt or higher anything round that will be fine. HPS are great for flowerin cause they omit red light great for flowerin.Hey thanks!
Just to expand on this question, I have a couple more...
1) Are CFLs or MH better for vegging? Or are they both equal for a small grow like mine?
2) What wattage should my HPS be for my four ladies in the grow tent?
If you want ten pounds a week i would start a sea of green operation. (Start clonin many mother and you have a massive harvest). For hydro systems you neeg pump, oxygen airiators and hydropononic mediums, timers(for the pumps), lights,Probably good vent system it will prob stink, and your electric bill may be pretty high I would start small and move your way up so the police dont notice the electricity bill jump from like 200 dollarss a month to 400-500 dollars a month that is when you get suspiciuos and they start to send heat copter over ya. U dont want that Try sea of green first ull be surprised on what youll get.so i like to smoke pot for rec. and have no moral qualms about producing it for others to enjoy at there discretion. i am interersted in an indoor hydro operation. just curious about the basic resourses requiired. for example if i selected a good popular hybrid can i get some ballpark numbers as too how much square footage, electricity, water and number of plants to produce say ten pounds a wk? whatdoyasay?
So many methods to list go on the FAQ it should have info.Hey I'm a new grower, and starting with a deep water culture system. Can you tell me which methods are easiest to use? and which get you the best results.
