geez...this thread is disastrous. you're all arguing over nothing - this debate has been ended by the intelligent comments from DaGambler and someone else...I can't remember the name. Pit bulls require extra care and attention, but can be great dogs. Like I said earlier, my brother adopted two pit bulls and they're so loving. they have NO mean streak that I have seen. and my brother is not the type of person who you would think would have pits. he's a total dork - he adopted them because they were gonna be killed if not. now, that being said, the reason pits have bad reputations is because 90% of pit owners are stupid fucks who think their dog says something about their lifestyle. they're trying to be scenesters, so they get pits to play the part. I personally have nothing against pit bulls (I own and breed hound dogs), but I do have a problem with all the damn backyard breeders of pits and all those fuckers that get them because they want to be seen as a gangster or something. pits have great potential, but they need an intelligent owner. many of you who have posted seem like intelligent pit owners, but some on here clearly are bragging about how badass their pits are because they can dominate other dogs - that's fucking stupid. if you're bragging about your dog being the most violent or antagonistic, then you're a fuck, but if you're bragging about how loyal, trained, and loving your pits are, then you're a responsible pit owner and should be congratulated. that's my two cents...

Thank you for your well put post. This was supposed to be a friendly thing for us to show our family pets and some peckerheads have to talk shit and give out neg reps. Lets get back to the point of this.

haha my bad rep made me laugh haha its more funy that somone on here has that much free time to bad rep someone and tell them that thier dog is ugly hahah funny guy he thinks i give a shit what he thiks haha thanks
yeah - raidercelticfan keeps -rep'ing people for making posts in this forum. apparently, if you post in this forum and don't mindlessly state that pits are the best dogs in the world, then you get -rep'ed. whatever...the whole rep thing is abused. it's one of the reasons the format was switched over - so that idiots didn't realize they had the power to -rep people for stupid shit. the rep doesn't matter anyway, let it go. i got -rep'ed for making a completely neutral statement...

Yes she is a Tarantula, she's a Chilean Rose hair, one of the most docile kinds. Her species originiated in south america. New world spiders (n and S american) have a defense system where they use their back to legs to flick the hairs off their body. The hairs fly around in the air and imbed in your skin causing irritation, much like a cactus thorn.

Tarantula's have 10 legs, not 8. The front 2 called "Palps" are used to seize and hold prey, and the males also use their front 2 legs for impregnating females.

You can tell a tarantula's gender by looking at its front 2 feet. A male will have little hook like things used for collecting sperm. Males are skinny and spindly, females are heavy bodied. Males don't live much past sexual maturity when they spin their sperm web, collect their sperm and head off looking for a receptive female. Even if he does impregnate her and get away without being eaten, he usually dies soon after anyway. The female can live up to 30 years.

haha, oh well.....

i like your spider, i know nothing about them. to be honest the average house spider gives me the willies, they're my one phobia.

would that be considered a tarantula? what makes a tarantula a tarantula?

Thanks. She's a malamut/husky mix. I'm not sure what kind of husky though. She's only about 80 pounds. Her dad was 120.

Yes they are killers and no they don't let go. That is why people like them. When they take ahold, their jaws lock down.

If they are such loving dogs, why would they attack their owners, people they see everyday, neighbors? Most of them attack people who know them. I'm sure the girl who was attacked by her neighbors dogs, knew those dogs. The woman attacked at her babyysitters had been going there every day for years, the dogs knew her too. What is so loving about that?
Pit bulls jaws do not lock there is no mechanical locking. They have more heart and game than any other dog breed. Meaning whatever they do they will do it with 110% its doesn't matter to them if its biting someone/thing and hanging on till they are dead, or running in a park to chase a ball till they are dead. Whatever there owner empowers them to do they will do it till they're "dead". I agree that you hear about allot of "bad dogs" that are pits. I agree that there is allot of asshole who have them because "they can kick any other dogs ass". This is wrong of them. But I isnt the breeds fault. Its not fair to blame a breed for something that a few do. Remember all dogs are animals there minds respond to everything this way: 1rst Animal instinct 2nd dog instinct 3rd breed instinct. By the way i have been in a home serviced based business for all my adult life. I have been bitten by many dogs 90% were "little dogs". I think there owners have a mind set of "the little baby wouldn't hurt someone e if he bites them" or "he's just afraid".

I know people are passionate about both sides of this issue. Please understand though its almost never the animals fault they just act like animals. Its always the owners fault because they didn't have their animal under control.
