I've decided to set up a small grow space in my basement. I'm going to pick up three 18 gal Rubbermaid plastic store bins and make my DWC. I've done this on a much smaller scale with success, but the volume of water with this project presents a new problem(s).

Should the bins be placed directly on the floor or should they be raised so they don't get so cold, or is cold good?

What is the best way to airate a 18 gal bin? I get the feeling that one 12" airstone is not going to do it.

Also, I plan on running 3 bins, what's the best way to do this? Must I have an air pump for each bin? Or do I need to have a pump for each airstone? Do they make pumps that will run 6 or more airstones?

Should I be using something other then pumps and airstones?

My vision is three 18 gal bins, two plants each. Where going for max yeild per plant as this will keep me legal. It would be great to be able to run all three bins with one pump.

Yea thats shit sounds NICE. I would reccomend if ur going to do bins than add a small submersible pump for water circualtion. To be also used for later water changes to be hooked up to a drainage tube that leads to a drain or faucet.
2 pumps per bin.Case one fails. 2- 8 inch air stones per pump should be sufficient.
78-82 degrees controlled res or room temp.
A small fan blowing directly on the tubs will get them cold. Or maybe U could put a timer on the fans so they dont get to cold.
Thats just a vision im having.

If u were involved in the right club than U could obtain the sacred hash plant by picking up a simple bag of seed. All things in moderation sir. Which brings me to Overspending.... Living a life style such as one that that grows or vegges on an island. Expendatures must be taken into consideration.

dually noted sir. on the islands, everyone uses "catchment" water for bathing, etc. this is rain water that is caught in a giant res. behind the house. i was thinking you could hook up a drip from the catchment tank and let it run down the hill into the dwc tub. but that's purely hypothetical and pretty far fetched in itself. my landloard in the US virgin islands had a huge hydro setup that he used for his "veggies mon". he never let me see it tho. i'm just gonna stick with the basic dwc. there's no clubs where i am, i'll probably have to just order the hash seeds with my tax return. they're pricey, but def. worth it if i can get a male, and even more worth it if i get a female, so it's a win-win.

yo. what kinds of nutes do you guys use for your dwc's? i use gen hydro for my aerogarden, but was thinking about upgrading for my dwc grow. just wanted opinion on what the best bang for buck is and what gets the best results. thanks!

Nice man. Enjoy the waves bro. Im getting out my scissors and am going to become johnny scissorhands for a while. I use botanicaire pro organics in my Tubs man. One of the least expensive and have had nothing but good results.I supplement my flower by adding some karma now in early stages and then kool bloom.About 20 bux a bottle.The grow nuts last about 2 months. Flower nuts about 20 bux a month between the 3.

I guess I should do my whole intro thing as well...

I have my first grow going right now by DWC. a DIY rubbermade tote with four net pots... have three AK-47 girls (Sway, Fox, and Jane... all Angelina Jolie characters) in day 8 of flower growing like crazy, and about 21" tall). I have a 60gall air pump, two 5" air stones and use General hydroponics (GH) Flora Series
