Random Jabber Jibber thread

AH the joys of getting the Mrs new laptop working correctly. Number keypad doesn't work without pushing the Num Lk button, can't login if you used numbers in passwords. Why would anyone send out a computer that isn't set to update time, or sense location to the right time zone? Meh.

SO, I called the electric/gas company about the overcharge on my gas bill because I saw no compensation in my current bill. The woman I talked to said my meter wasn't working correctly since last November. I had no notification until I was charged for an "estimated" bill and it finally identified there was a problem last month. I have a claim in now and I "should" see some kind of compensation within the next couple bills. The technician that replaced the battery in the meter read it manually and documented it so who knows what the final outcome will be. So much for a "smart" meter.

Compare your bill year to year, and maybe to the year before that if you have that data. Look at usage and not the dollar amount.
If it was being estimated because they couldn't get a reading, another reading should correct it without hoopla. If it was estimated because the meter was failing, well that's gonna require some investigation.

When I worked in CS for utilities this is what we would use to measure the accuracy of an estimated bill when they occured (this was in MD/DC, lots of old meters, before Smart Meters were used widespread, and a lot of inaccessible meters.

If the usage looks way out of line, reach out to your public utility commision to see if they can remedy the issue, if you get pushback from your power co.

They gave back some money this bill to correct the amount used to the manual reading.

As the biker was flying down the road, he goes over the bridge & he finds a cop with a radar gun on the other side lying in wait.
The cop pulled him over, walked up to the bike & with a patronizing smirk he asked, 'What's your hurry?'
The biker said: I'm late for work!!
The cop asked: what do you do?'
'I'm a rectum stretcher responded the biker.
The cop said; A rectum stretcher & just what does a rectum stretcher do?'
'Well, I start by inserting one finger in the rectum, then work my way up to two fingers, then three, then four, then with my whole hand in
I work from side to side until I can get both hands in, and then I slowly but surely stretch it, until it's about 6 feet.'
'And just what the hell do you do with a 6-foot asshole?' he asked: ' You give him a radar gun and park him behind a bridge...'
