It's like his many lawsuits, get inline, Chris Christie called him a one-man crime wave. Garland will end up giving Donald a pass on a lot of crimes using his prosecutorial discretion as a practical matter once they rack up enough time on him. They might go after him in conspiracies that involve others, or he could be an unindicted coconspirator and left in his cell to rot.

It would be worth it (imo) to charge and try him for it somewhere down the road.

On general principle, it’s a good thing for rehabilitating the public faith in the rule of law.

On a more specific principle, it sends a signal to other current or former holders of high office that diverting funds raised for campaigning toward fighting civil or criminal charges is felony fraud and carries serious consequence.

While DOJ currently has bigger fish to fry on several fronts united by the attempted and unresolved coup, I do not think it would be in the national interest to blow this one off.

Even if he is sentenced to prison for longer than he might live on the other matters, being charged and tried for this racket (and I believe Rico applies) (but I didn’t sleep in a Holiday Inn Express) is something the nation needs to see done.
