Trump To Turn Himself In

Low level felonies or misdemeanors that would likely result in probation for a first time offender.

But even if trump is indicted the chances of a Jury finding him guilty are extremely thin. trump has decades of business dealings in Manhattan. Many with shady characters. Juries/judges can be bought, intimidated, etc... There are entities that will make sure trump is never convicted to ensure he doesn't rat others out.

trump will never serve a day in jail.
That's it right there.

He makes too many people rich, for them to let him fall.

An interesting argument was made by Republicans today.

When three powerful House Republican committee chairs wrote to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg yesterday, they seemed quite animated about a Donald Trump indictment that does not yet exist. The GOP lawmakers even argued that Bragg shouldn’t bring charges because federal prosecutors looked at the same evidence and passed on the case.

What they said in that letter:

“By July 2019 ... federal prosecutors determined that no additional people would be charged alongside [Michael] Cohen. ... [Y]our apparent decision to pursue criminal charges where federal authorities declined to do so requires oversight....”

They are claiming that Manhattan NY DA Bragg's motivation for investigating and possibly indicting Trump is political, rather than based upon their findings in their investigation.

In their view, because the DOJ decided not to press charges, Trump is innocent. Never mind that NY performed its own investigation, had its own grand jury and will make its own decision based upon its own work. Also never mind the reason why the DOJ did not pursue charges after they finished investigating what happened:

What they actually found was that Cohen acted at Trump’s direction and to Trump’s benefit. Why didn’t prosecutors pursue the matter further? According to Geoffrey Berman — the Trump-appointed U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York, who wrote a book about his experiences — it’s because there was political interference from other Trump appointees who ordered prosecutors to end their investigation.

In a nutshell, some House Republican leaders are accusing Bragg of doing that which Republicans did. A classic propaganda tactic.

And a parting shot at the cynics out there. Should this go to trial, a jury formed from a random selection of residents in Manhattan NY will not be inherently favorable to Trump.

anything between him and melania is between him and melania, no one gives a fuck about whether or not he was cheating. Cheating isn't illegal.
it's not about election fraud, either, it's about the misuse of campaign money. lies don't matter, morality doesn't matter, nothing matters except did he use campaign money to make that payment...

Disagree. Jail includes House Arrest with ankle bracelet.

There are entities that will make certain he's never president again..hell, I'll even name one; you have the Cheneys' word.

Then came Georgia..then came Jack..he's not getting away unless he dies.

Prosecuting trump for his crimes is the best way to remove that tarnish....
The thing with this Stormy Daniels case is that there are no real penalties. It just seems like a waste of time.

I think the states should step back and let the feds go after him for January 6th. This fluff is just getting in the way.

I can't stand trump and want him to pay for what he did but these state DA's just making a name for themselves for their own future political ambitions are just clouding the waters.

Yep, it sure was.

Barr left a nasty stain on that office when he left, didn't he?

The argument that Republicans are making when they refer to the DOJ's decision not to prosecute Trump as a reason to claim Trump's innocence, is shameless. I heard Joe Taco, Trump's lawyer, say the same when listing his reasons why NY has no case against Trump.

Regarding the people who said statute of limitations had expired (you know who you are). You were wrong when you said that. Wrong on two counts. First, by saying that and second because it presumes that Manhattan NY DA Alvin Bragg is stupid.

Bookkeeping fraud has a two-year statute of limitations as a misdemeanor and a five-year one as a felony, both of which would normally have expired for payments made to Mr. Cohen in 2017. But New York law extends those limits to cover periods when a defendant was continuously out of state, as Mr. Trump was while living in the White House or at his home in Florida. In addition, during the pandemic, New York’s statute of limitations was extended by more than a year.

If I were keeping score, I'd say it currently sits at: Cynics 0, Alvin Bragg 2

Great! I hope Donald doesn't fuck up his conditional release and end up in Rikers, he will do more to fuck over the GOP and foxnews out running around loose freaking out with an indictment over his head and under the control of a judge. Foxnews is treating him like he was on fire and about to explode and some republicans are clinging to him in spite of the roaring flames and risk of detonation. While he is out running around on pretrial Georgia could drop an indictment on him and a bunch of other assholes. Then there is Jack, putting the screws to his lawyers and beating down privilege claims one by one, until he too indicts him over the documents and obstruction, for openers and leverage on the J6 case. Hopefully he will use the documents and obstruction cases to crack Mark Meadows and open the flood gates of republican politicians being indicted for conspiracy.
