Vaccinated stay contagious longer than Unvaccinated

You realize that was a warning and not advice right?
I'm not religious whatsoever so I'm not citing this with any authority. Your reply made me curious and, yeah, @GenericEnigma could have been citing that phrase correctly. He was replying to that mindless idiot who only talks of himself and the pleasures of life that he enjoys for granted while denying the racist, destructive and fascist actions taken by the MAGA party he clearly supports..

The passage was a condemnation to a people who were called to be humble and mindful in preparation for hard times (an attack by a large host). Instead they celebrated, ate, drank and partied their asses off after an early victory with help from God (or just plain dumb luck). And as a consequence "tomorrow you will die" without your god's blessing. It's not a bad metaphor to describe today's MAGA Christians and their celebration of their own wealth while opposing actions to address human caused climate change and social inequity. Instead support fascist government, gluttonous destruction of the environment and most of all, tax cuts for the wealthy.

Yes perhaps I misinterpreted the basis for the quote. I took it as he was saying fuck it let’s party, don’t worry bout it. If I did I apologize.

Vaccinating with what? We offered the latest mRNA vaccines, but as far as I know the response was no, except maybe for Xi and important people perhaps. Better late than never I guess, at least make the effort.

The Chinese government is not providing mRNA vaccines and instead are supplying vaccines to their people that contain the inactivated virus. Data shows the CoronaVac and Sinopharm are safe and effective.

There has been a lot of conflicting reports, confusion due to shifting strains of virus, ineptitude on the part of governments and researchers and simply the challenge of a novel virus appearing from nowhere in a world connected by air transportation that has caused people to throw their hands up and reject everything they hear. Three years in, the picture is still grainy but much more clear than when Trump was championing HCQ and UV enemas. This from NPR, Dec. '22:

Rumor #1: I've heard the Chinese vaccines don't work very well? Is that true?

"No, that's not true," says epidemiologist Ben Cowling at the University of Hong Kong. "Our research in Hong Kong has shown that's not true. I don't have a concern about the effectiveness of the Chinese vaccine."

Last winter, Hong Kong suffered a massive omicron surge. And this outbreak allowed Cowling and his colleagues to test how well the Chinese vaccine CoronaVac fared compared to the Pfizer vaccine in a faced-to-face match. About half the population in Hong Kong had received CoronaVac and the other half had received the Pfizer vaccine. Altogether, more than 13 million doses had been administered to Hong Kong's 7.4-million people.

And guess what happened?

"We showed very clearly that both vaccines provide a high level of protection against severe COVID," Cowling says.

In the study, Cowling and his team analyzed data from about 20,000 COVID cases, ranging from mild to fatal. They found that two doses of either vaccine offered a high level of protection against severe disease for adults under age 60. Specifically, two doses of the Pfizer vaccine offered 95 to 97% protection, while two doses of CoronaVac offered between 89 and 94% efficacy, the team reported in the Lancet Infectious Disease this past October.

Myth #2: I've heard the Chinese vaccines aren't safe or haven't been tested very well. Is that true?

CoronaVac and Sinopharm have been administered to several billion people in over a 100 countries. They made up about half of all shots administered worldwide in 2021. "I've never seen any reports of severe side effects with these vaccines," Bouey says.

It pays to be skeptical and wonder how much pressure was applied by politicians on scientists to report a favorable result. Still, though, enough people have been vaccinated and enough data has been gathered to show the Chinese vaccines are safe and effective.

One advantage of mRNA vaccines is they can be quickly adapted to new strains of the virus, or use a completely different route of attack, just program it in, test, clinical trials and assuming everything is ok yer good to go. I dunno how well their vaccines respond to the latest variants unless they are growing them and making vaccines from them too. I can see why they might have a broader spectrum of activity than just the spike protein as lot's of bits and parts of the virus are exposed to the immune system. Deaths are down from covid here, antiviral medications still work and I figure better treatment, vaccines and that are keeping them down.

I do wonder about the damage wrought by repeated infections as immunity wains and new variants evolve. I haven't caught it yet and hope to stay that way!

I don't know either. The Chinese government is not a great source of information. All I know is what's available from reliable outside sources who report past data that shows the CoronaVac and Sinopharm vaccines to be safe an effective over the past three years. Regarding what's happening today or in the future, I do not like to speculate and extrapolate about things I know little about

I read one story from one medical expert who thought maybe there were signs that Covid weakens overall resistance to disease. I've poked around and found little that confirms his story but I don't disregard what he said. Again, I don't like to speculate about that which I know little about. However, I'm still wearing my mask when in public and avoiding exposure where I can. Unlike the antivaxx crowd to whom absence of good information and conflicting data means party on because "tomorrow we die", my response is to heed warnings.

Hmm.. Well apparently the CDC doesn't have any documents to support their assertion that a global mass vaccination campaign doesn't cause virus mutations and variants.

In the information age not just scientists and academics can connect globally and support each other's efforts, idiots can too! They can run, not just a TV, radio station and publishing house from their basement computer room, they can also be impressive sounding "research" organizations too"! Of course they can now network nationally and internationally too, bad ideas like bad news travels fast.

there are two possibilities here:

1) you believe that
2) you don’t

either way, so much for your claims of following the science. smh
I believe that if someone submits a FOIA request, then the government should comply. I'm not sure why people need to sue the government to comply with their own policies, but apparently it's a thing. I also believe that if a FOIA request is submitted to the CDC requesting documents which would show that vaccines indeed do not cause variants, as they have publicly asserted, then it would behoove them to present such documents as legally required.

I guess you made the right choice then ……. Good for you!!!

The source doesn't really change the information provided by the CDC, now does it?
If there are no documents pertinent to the request then the request cannot be honoured.

It's not logical that a vaccine would cause variants in the first place. Variants arise in a larger population of the disease which comes about with higher infection rates caused by not getting vaccinated. Duh.

Just wait for the mess that's going to happen in China with the massive Covid outbreak from all the travel going on there for their New Years celebrations. Curious to see how China spins it.

Correct, "if there are no documents, then the request cannot be honored". However, at the same time, if there are no documents, then their assertions cannot be supported.

It is actually quite logical that a mass vaccination campaign would cause variants. What happens in this rare situation of a mass vaccination campaign, is that the virus ends up mutating in a way that gets around the vaccines, thereby resulting in new strains which the vaccine are ineffective against. I watched virologists explain this very early on in the pandemic, when the shots were just being released.
