i do tomatoes in a g'house and we've had below freezing in mid Sept here.
Can someone give me the lowdown on this growlight?

I harvest in November with LED and heaters. 20's are normal fall temps here. Maters don't care.

That light is expensive as all hell. I bet it kicks some ass. Although I do think the large bar-style lights are probably better...
I have a BESTVA PRO 2000W with samsung diodes and its rockin' my small closet. For $170 bucks. Its probably too small for your grow, but it doesn't get hot, only 'very warm' on the ballast cover, not enough to change the temps in my room... diodes are heat-less, plants can grow all the way to the diodes. Heat is a bitch. I would recommend getting that info on any light you purchase, first.

The heat point is null unless anyone can prove to me to that bar style produce less heat. 600 watt bar style vs 600 watt QB style is still 600 watts.
bar styles are just better at distributing the heat. The heat is still present. Does it feel cooler to the touch, sure. There is more material to absorb the heat so it doesn’t heat the fixture up as much.
bar styles are running the same brand diodes and typically the same brand power supply.
I said it before and will say it again…people take light discussions so personally. Save it for your spouses when they ask why you spent 2k on a light.

According to Google the hlg b spec 650w uses lm301 diodes and a meanwell driver, how can a like for like light be any different in terms of growth?
Most companies source the same components and its not exactly rocket science to put a light together, we used hid for ever without any problems i don't anticipate any now.

The main different I’m aware of is they sort these diodes into different quality control bins. So a lm301 diode on a alibaba led probably is of lower quality than one of a reputable distributor. The issue is as a buyer we cant prove what bin they use. We just have to trust them.

Another thing people always act like cheap LEDs are a fire hazard. Has this actually ever happened? I have never seen anyone mention a LED as the cause of a fire. I think maybe I heard of someone shocking themselves. A shock would most likely be caused by the user wiring plugs wrong.

the one thing i noticed with my now replaced DIY QB setup was that it seemed to hold in heat more so than my new bar style. it acted like an umbrella to keep heat from rising as easily as a bar style

With a bar light i can get it close enough to take advantage of radiated heat at 8/10" it's not much heat but it all helps in my case, with boards/units they need there 18/20" from the canopy so they heat the canopy less so.
Ime it affects the canopy temperature but it doesn't affect the overall ambient temperature with the same wattage bar or board.

that’s a great point. These diodes do put out a lot of heat. I never thought about the heat coming from the diodes in relationship to hanging height.
So I’m theory with bar styles you can run the room cooler while keeping canopy temps at the right temp. Where QB you hang the light higher - having less direct heat from the diodes.
Over all the ambient temp of the room is the same with either light but canopy temp could be different.

I forget about shit then read something and it jogs my memory, anyway bars are great in the sense that they light up the whole area but that's not always the order of the day, i start of in a corner and as things grow i adapt to suit, if I had one big bar light I'd be wasting electricity until I got into full bloom, with boards i could add as required.
There's a lot of pros and cons with them the more I think about/read about it.

I can touch my panel-style LED with Samsung diodes to the tops of my plants w/out any burn. I would guess the bar lights are similar...
