Reagan as Governor was before my time and I was just a kid during his POTUS run, but my dad was a huge supporter. . ..i always found it odd that my dad was an ex hippie "pothead" type but was always a stout Republican supporter up until 2016. Anyways. . .. ALL taxes are burdensome, some more than others. Check California's gas price average vs the rest of the country, and I mean prices last year or even pre-Pandemic. We've always paid more, less than HI and I think that's it. We're taxed harder for road maintenance than anywhere else. And don't even get me started on stack of taxes non-medical customers pay at dispo's, it's crazy!
Take a look at the state’s infrastructure. Kleptocrat Reagan started this collapse because shiny shiny weapons systems and choosing Gríma Wormtongue as SecTreas. There are banana republics with better infrastructure at this point.
It is this betrayal of America and Americans in order to strip all the wealth into the platinum club members that I do not hear you acknowledging and righteously decrying. Why do Republicans band together to strip-mine the wealth of communities they are charged with growing to prosperity? The mask is coming off: bigotry. I used to be a Republican. But their obvious breach of faith with the people they are elected to protect and advance means not only I reregistered but am now voting against them as long as they hold to this “two wolves and a goat voting on what’s for lunch”. It is not what I was taught America is. But with an entire political party gone destructively and lastingly rogue, your duty is as clear as mine. Vote the royalist vermin out.
