Great question. You can use any liquid delivery system as long as you subtract its base PPMs from the final EC. I personally use a 1:1 mixture of the separated water floating on top of partially used sour cream / tap water.

Dirt was a highly sought after commodity such as in Water World. I would collect grit off of my body for months to get a grow going.
