I don't run a carbon filter in my tent.. yet.. My wife is starting to not like certain strain smells. its sitting in the box waiting for her next complaint. I absolutely love the smell in the house. I will consider using / not using based on what strain. Lava cake and green crack was A OKAY. Cheese not so much.

I'd go with a 6 inch only if you ever have intentions of upgrading I run a vortex s-600 in my 5by5by8 340cfm and it's more than enough but..... I might attach a 3by3 to my 5by5 and use the inline to exhaust both tents

I got the T4 with 67 control for under $100 on ebay. The listing had a contradiction and I didn't know what control I was getting. No part numbers at all on the control but I finally determined it was the 67. I called and they said they are "transitioning" to the 67. My guess is they started shipping with the 67 and they didn't say anything as there are still T4's on shelves with the older UNC529.

The controls DO look identical except the 67 has a gear/settings symbol on the right button and the old UNC529 has a leaf. I never even saw that part number until very recently, they did a good job of making things confusing.

The new control is 69 and uses USB-C connectors rather than Molex. I wonder if fans etc, will be available with with the 69 control?

Thanks! I ended up buying the S6. They don't stock the controllers, so I Amazon'd a controller 67. I don't feel the need for the controller 69, at least for now. We'll see.

I got an S6 in the mail today along with the 67 controller for a new tent that should be coming tomorrow or the next day hopefully...

Nice!

I checked my beans when I got home from work and they popped. So now it's on like donkey Kong. Should be buttoning everything up tonight/tomorrow.

Thats super awesome. Cant wait to see it. I'm setting up a 3x3 tent too. 39"x39" actually. I will be placing the mars TS3000 in there. I was previously running a 400 watt HPS, I saw in your early post you had a similar wattage light- If you do go LED, I would recommend not to go any less than the TS3000 equiv. I actually probably enjoyed the 400HPS a tad bit more honestly but the energy and heat savings is a good trade off. I really like the new Mars lights that use the bars to spread the light out for the lower end (400 - 600 range), compared to the TS line of high concentration in the center and a weak spread along the edge. Who knows, I may throw the 400 in there for a compare grow during the winter where heat isn't an issue. The LED just makes it not an issue in the summer.

I found a 400watt HPS to be lacking in a 3x3.
Needed a cooled hood to manage heat too.

I had a 6” inline on the hood and a 4” inline exhausting the tent.

Switched to led a few years ago way happier. And heat is non issue

Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to see how this goes for a little bit. Been open rooming this 400w for many years. Definitely interested in LEDs down the road now that they are becoming the standard. Only have the one 6" AC Infinity, but also have a 6" inline HVAC booster i was going to run solely on the ducted hood. Last night as i was looking at my setup it crossed my mid to potentially just use the 6" Cloudline to draw the tent exhaust across my light on its way out. Leaving one end of the hood open and ducting from hood to fan, then out of tent. Purely hypothetical, currently have the two separate.

Carbon filters also keep the inside of the inline fan clean. I was running one in a veg setup without filter, and the inside of the fan got very dusty and noisy, probably would have broke if I didn't clean it.

Thank you for bringing up a point that hasn't been discussed. This comment alone is now pushing me to get a filter. I never thought i needed one, until now. Thanks!

Yeah, it doesn't just filter smell but it filters dust and particles, this is important especially if you dump that air back into the lung room, or not outside.

Will definitely be dumping outside of the garage. But as I mentioned, its a garage. Plenty of dust is in there. I never thought of it that way, just for scent removal. That's why I didn't consider one.

Still staring at the setup, controller and hydroton delivery were delayed a day, and beans will be ready for Roxul placement tonight. Still looking at my ducting and still am pondering what could co wrong with running my ducting as I'm showing in the picture; leaving one port on my hood open and plumbing my hood to vent fan, then out of my tent to the outside. Ill be buying a filter eventually, and will re-figure the ducting probably.

Thanks! Ill probably get an AC Infinity Cloudline T4 with controller. Priced right , and pretty stellar reviews.
You’re going to need the 6”
I’m running a 300w led with the 6” inline and I’m consistently hitting 83F.
That bulb you’re running will put off a shitload more heat. Not running a filter should help the fan to push/pull a little harder but I really believe the 4” will be underpowered

Thanks Maker! I actually already bought the 6" a few couple days ago. Your inline, is it a booster fan or an actual vent fan? Ie Cloudline S/T6?

You must have a high intake temp for this to be the case, my intake air is around 12c and my 6” ac infinity can keep my room perfect temp wise with 660w of hlg diablo, my lowest speed is 5 and my highest is 8. I can maintain 28-29c no problem and could have it even colder if I wanted. Maybe ur sensor is damaged? Or maybe you have it uncovered so it is being heated beyond the air temp with the infra red from the light ?

I’m sucking air from an air conditioned room with my sensor at plant height, in direct light. Not sure what you mean by uncovered. Tent stays closed
