LOL daaamn I want to get rid of all my AN and haven't posted anything on FB market for a while as nothing sold like before COVID. Just looked at the ads and man there's other stores blowing out stuff too and mushroom containers and TONS of tent set up where I'm guessing people found out spending 4+ months growing 4 plants is not a hobby they can dedicate themselves too. Brutal this is just in the Greater Vancouver area.

Here in the UK when a place gets raided if rented they will normally let the property owner keep the equipment to sell to pay for any damages; constant supply of high end gear on the marketplace
This is because the gray weed market here crashed as once the borders fully closed Canadian weed had no where to go and the domestic marker it tiny compared to export.

In the mid 2000's to about 2010 there were so many grow ops here that lot of my customers that got busted and they were legally clean other wise would get get their plants confiscated, some of the equipment damaged and left alone lol.

Same here market is flooded with lightly used stuff every one is changing out from HID to led or learning growing is not as easy as one thought. I have grabed 2 1700 Gavitas off market place last few weeks for less than half price.

I don't want to sounds like a know it all....but. I predicted that many folks would bail out of growing at home 2 years ago.
Too many issues as mentioned by the guys above. I can't be bothered looking but I'm sure in my area same same.
I don't see a soul in the shop I use locally. They seem busy sending stuff out the back to online orders though. At first every time I went there they were busy in the store area. But now it seems very dead.
I think as you guys here mentioned the luster is off the growing "weed at home" game. GOOD !!!!!
Fucking amateur's ruining things!

That isn't the case at all. The Police or CPS for that matter aren't allowed to give away the tenants property to cover damage. Damage to a rented property is a civil matter and not covered by criminal law.

If that's the case then they aren't clearing the properties out properly very often because it happens a lot or civil suits are passing gear to the property owners to cover the damages etc. Either way, it happens regularly leaving lots of cheap gear on the marketplace

I predict with in 6 months here hydro stores are going to start dropping like flies. I think 3 have closed down in BC and one wholesaler are closed or about to. Even if the market started to come up so many people quit and threw out their equipment to the dump that very few will have the 1000's to set up again unless the prices goes back up to $2500 for AA lol

I decided to to close my shop as more of my customers are planning to exit soon, I'll make final decision next week but I basically I've been throwing $5K to keep myself going for the last 6 months and its eaten up my savings/credit. The online part is running ok but I'm loosing too much to have to offer low free shipping levels. It wouldn't be bad if say 80% of my sales were from BC/AB but 80% of my sales are from Eastern Canada.

The tenant has a contract, he has breached that contract by committing crime on the premises. The owner will be allowed to recoup those loses by claiming the tenant's deposit. If the tenant wants his property back he is free to claim it, if he doesn't claim the owner will be free to dispose of it as he sees fit.

In reality the deposit will probably not cover the damage. The tenant won't have access to the property and will have to go through the owner to try and get it back. The building owner then tells him to fuck off and his only action will be to get his stuff back via the courts, this will cost much more than the grow kit is actually worth and be a massive hassle. The owner then flogs the stuff cheap to get his loses back.

This is not the same as the Police/CPS just giving the stuff to the owner as you suggested.

I was told tonight of another store in Surrey that's been around for 20 years I think will be shutting down. Was told by same person a store in Van is basically just one guy running it now bare bones. I believe so far 3 stores have shut down in the province.

Tonight I decided to close it a month earlier than planned so gonna give my notice for least at end of month. If everything works out next week and I can come to an agreement with someone and I can manage to liquidate at least 1/2 of my stock (Have about 60-70K) I might be able to get all the money I put into the sore as a shareholder loan out and be debt free and have a job right away.

I've talked to most of my suppliers today and all but one will allow me to purchase from them for the online store. So fingers crossed it works out as I'll keep sponsoring here and on OG.

Really sorry to hear that.
But you will stop the bleeding that way at least. Can you work out of home in any way. Too keep your online stuff moving. Just a thought. Not sure of your situation of course but at least you'd have no rent.
This pandemic has cost thousands of small business owners almost all they have. I hear some sad stories of folks cashing it all in to keep the business alive. SO many stories. I know yours is less pandemic related of course.
Fuck trudy dancer groper surfer millionaire.
Ya things in the growing at home market seem kinda bleak. Plus you lost the bread and butter midsized commercial guys. Time to move on imo.
Just a slow drop to the bottom.
The proliferation of stores is killing a lot of BM folks off.

Today I was thinking back to the mid 80's when in Toronto the Q107 radio station ran "Home Grown Hydroponics" ads almost hourly or more.
They had a catchy jingle to boot. " The only Way to grow" was part of the song. Well can you imagine the flock of folks who bought this whole idea. I did and so did plenty of others.
And bingo in Ontario it all started.
FUCK were they busy back then. I used to have to drive there from Kitchener Waterloo to buy stuff. The store was hopping. They had several locations then I believe. The "homegrown 6 pack" was the big deal then. Amazing how far we have come really. So sad in many ways too. For SO many decent folks just trying to make a buck. Or save some.

If I get the other job I was offered than I'll be ok and I can run the store online BUT will see. Up to Oct 2020 I was 100% ok and was making plans for another business that had to do with off roading and photography but was gonna take at least year to get going and I had enough spare cash to slowly built it up. Once the second lock down came into effect in BC at end of October and total border lock down basically next month my sales were 50% as some big buys said fuck it and closed shop. As the price of weed started to plummet it really only took 4-5 months for so many people to quit. Also mushroom also got killed at same time, got stuck with tons of shit for shrooms that I brought it a few months before as it was crazy shroom growing.

This morning I went to see another supplier and he says his biddies now are having a hard time moving quads and are quitting too.

I'm sure it was a hard decision to make. But at least it's made now and you can plan a new future.
Good luck getting that new job...hope it works out for you. :D
Each town may have room for a single grow store but multiple stores in a small area may never work again.
I think you made the right choice imo. If it's like you have said here.......dump it. Keep the online if it pays.
I'm sure the suppliers and manufacturer's must also be feeling the lack luster attitude to grow at home.
No way it can be as good as before legalization for them either.

It'll actually be another hydro store and I think we have the same idea where you have to take a hydro store to make it work and in this area there is a missing element needs to be filling in but will see when I have the meeting next week.

I'd say 70% of hydro stores would have to close in the BC Coast for the others to semi survive, mind you that's going on an assumption that if the market does come back with strong export out of Canada it'll take a pretty high per LB price for people to spend tens of thousands to start up again. Also problem right now is the insane cost of property here and unless you own the home no one will let you rent to grow anymore. If there gov wanted to get rid of the black market now would be the time to go from LP/Micro to store and sell good weed for $90/oz and grams for say 30% more than buying bulk.

These guys tried the export game. Used a chopper (Helicopter) to fly weed over the border.
Gotta love how the only thing wrong with weed now is that the Gov doesn't own it. You see it's all ok for them to sell it and makes money....just not anyone else. You see they can do what they please but us...we need to be told what we can and can not do.
Our previous jailers feel as long as their pockets get lined what they do is a fine. Do you guys see my point?
Everything is ok for us(gov) just not the citizens who employ us.
Of course they label the BM now as stealing tax dollars right out of the kids mouths at supper time.
Special privilege's for the gov make me sick!
Ya stay your road the old custs coming is is a false hope.
What do you mean by "hydro store" Are you meaning they are Grpw stores...same same ???
