Even the same strain will have variances so I would make it easy on yourself and stick to just 2 plants at most.

I think two might be a good start tbh, and yes it sounds like sticking with one strain will be the wise option until I either have two tents or more experience.

I don’t know why but I’m hooked on the autos for growing in tent. Had problems with photos getting to tall the first grow I did in the tent. Autos seem shorter no needing to change lighting times seems to be easier for beginners. I guess I will do the blue dream and and 707 headband photos when I run out of autos.

That tent seems to be about a 4x4, which is a nice size for 1-4 plants. I'd stick with 2-3 plants and maybe try some topping and LST. Starting with one strain should be a little easier than multiple strains. The LED kit seems OK but I'm not really familiar with the NZ products. I did notice the fan is 100 mm and a 4x4 can benefit from a 150 mm fan, especially if you're not running AC. You can probably get a little more for your money if you buy separate components. But it's nice buying everything from one source in case you have any problems. Good luck!

You have experience from outdoors so 4 plants shouldn't be a big stretch. I don't know what other options you have where you live but I would stay away from a package deal. Controlling odor in a 10x10x11 room needs upwards of 350 cfm so you may want a better fan and filter setup. You didn't say your room size, but if you want privacy you control room odor instead of just tent odor. Temp and humidity sensor $10-15 amazon. Do you have a smart phone, Google home or Alexa? you can buy smart switches to control your lights and setup routines. They may cost more, but if you buy piece by piece you'll have plenty of money left over as apposed to that kit. One smart switch with two outlets cost about $11.

350 CFM is Cubic Feet per Minute and it is talking about the volume of air your fan can move in a minute. I'd suggest you not buy a kit. If you're going LED you want to budget the majority of your money for that. Everything else is easily replaced but your lights make all the difference.
Conserve money everywhere but your light. You should buy the BEST light.
If you run in an air cooled hood they are cooler than most LEDs. That's another thing holding me back from moving to LEDs. I'll have to install a mini split whereas now my air cooled hoods do it. I can let my plants touch my hood's glass without burning as long as they aren't in the beam's focus they won't light bleach either so theoretically you can get more head room with a HID too.
Being he's starting today I'd recommend a good 2x2 coverage LED because as he improves he'll up his lights and could move that one down to a separate veg tent.

Good too know, my friend was growing hid a few yrs ago(im sure it probably wasn't the highest quality equipment)and was costing him over 200 a month my 4x4 w led 450 actual watts cost 22.. I only run it fall to spring though but it stays spot on temp wise that time of yr. I definitely agree led gets hot as well. Im cheap and wont use one for warm months,growing outdoor then anyway
I'm with you. Growing is my hobby so I can't justify a mini split for that.
However every year the fireworks get worse here. This year they started throwing stadium shells for well over a month prior to 7/4. So for that I'll justify a mini split because it's stressing my dogs terribly and they are worth it. So I might as well add my grow to it

And it was one of the few lights available to me for an acceptable price, everything else was either unavailable or way too expensive.
Check out their store on Aliexpress, they have some deals at the moment. They also have 2 official websites for EU & US, but they have limited shipping destinations there. On Aliexpress i believe they ship everywhere.
Mars Hydro is not a top quality brand, they are in the medium range and there are better lights for a higher price. Even their later models and series are better than my kit, i got the medium series because of the price. I've also read bad reviews about the company but f*ck it, i had to choose something eventually. I will definitely upgrade after i become experienced in growing.
I decided to go with LED lights for my 1st grow because they say HPS costs a lot of electricity and produces a lot of heat, which requires even more electricity to cool the temps and ventilate. And those ballasts and stuff, seems more complicated for me.. But again, once i become more experienced i might start experimenting with lights, but for now LED should be good.
About the grow kit, everyone suggested me to buy the parts individually, but i already spent a lot of time researching about growing and i wanted my grow-kit quickly so i bought it anway. When i got the kit i realized i should've bought the parts individually just like everyone said. Nothing really wrong with this kit, everything is fine enough. But i could've gotten better parts for about the same price or just slightly more.
For example the fan in this kit is pretty basic, 4 inches (10 cm), 322 cubic meters per hour (around 180 CFM) which should be enough for a 2x4x6 tent (60x120x180cm) but the fan is way too loud on full power, louder than a hair blower. I could've bought a 6 inch fan and run it at less power with less noise, and more ventilation if needed.
The carbon filter is also basic, and i read somewhere these cheap carbon filters can exhaust carbon dust particles. I have to exhaust in the same grow room so the carbon dust is not a good idea for me, i'll have to put some filters on the end of the ducting and hopefully it works fine.
I may have to buy a better fan and a carbon filter afterall, and i'll just use these for my smaller drying tent.
The 4x pots i got in the kit are 5 gallon (20L) which they didn't say, and they might be too large for me since i want to grow up to 4 plants in 3 gallon pots. So i may have to buy pots as well. Not expensive but it's still a nuisance.
The thermometer/hygrometer is also basic, doesn't have sensors on cables unfortunately but it works fine.
My point is, only the light and the tent are good in this kit, everything else is basic and cheap. I could've done better but ok, lesson learned.

Hope the dogs aren't too stressed. We live in rural area so ppl have more sense then to stress each others pets or the local sheep out. Shame there so easy to buyI'm with you. Growing is my hobby so I can't justify a mini split for that.

I think you did ok for a first time grower! The price wasn't too high, it could have been better but it's acceptable. Mars Hydro is stepping up their game and you got a good enough light to see a return on investment in 2 grows. My problem is that companies selling tents always give you a fan that's only good enough for the air exchange in the tent only. Once you start growing you realize you can smell the plants in the next room, then when you flip you smell bud all over the house! No way a 4" fan and filter is gonna help, at least not the cheap ones for under $200. Go to a hydro store and the idiot will tell you to slow down the fan and try to sell you a fan controller, NOT! A 6 inch fan could do it if you buy a quality fan and filter. So when you replace your filter and fan measure the room and plan on filtering the air in the room. Paranoid wives' and roommates will appreciate it believe me, and you won't get nagged every time they walk into the house.
Hey, thank you so much for taking the time to share thus with me. I totally understand why you went ahead and got the kit, I keep feeling the same znd my mind tells me to take the easy option all too often.
I will keep searching but even when I think I have found a deal I have no idea if it's good or bad. I can't afford the best of the best to eliminate any concerns either. Obviously too cheap is not going to be good. I guess I just find a good light a quite fan and budget everything else.
I have found a second hand jungle tent for $100nz dollars which hopefully I get as I believe these are good quality???
I'll upload items on here to gain the knowledge I need before I commit.
Good luck with your first attempt, just go for it, if you are worried at all only grow one plant. Hopefully that might felt you know what to change first before you move on to more.
