Ripening after harvest

I have a plant that the trics are mostly cloudy with some still clear. I'm not seeing any amber yet. Do the trics continue to ripen after chop like a piece of fruit ripens after harvest. I just found out that I'm going to be away for about a week or so for work and don't have anyone to care for my girl. I'm 73 days in since the flip to 12/12. I'm in DWC Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Diminishing returns for the risk of leaving it a week without care to me = chop it and hang it up. Dont wanna risk something happening while youre gone. Imo
That's what I'm thinking. I don't leave till Monday morning so hopefully I'll see some more development by the time I leave. Thanks for the reply

I don't know the answer to your question, but when I opened 2 old storage tubs the trichs in it were dark, dark amber almost rust like, they sure af weren't like that on the bud.

Ripen idk?
Darken yes absolutely.

That sucks. All that work and now your forced to harvest early. I'd be livid lol.
All the real work is in the final 2 weeks prior to harvest.

Yup it sucks bad but hopefully I'll see some more development in the next few days so she won't be a total loss. I'm trying to figure out a way to postpone the trip for a few days. Fingers crossed

The sucky part is regardless of when you leave. If the plants not mature. It's a total waste. Like if shes more than a week away when you harvest. You sacrifice smell flavor and potency. Much hope for you bro. Iv had to harvest couple weeks early one year. And I'll tell you what. I wish I harvested late. Rather than early

You'd be hard pressed to find anyone after a smoke say "you harvested too early." But if you're really worried about it...

Technically, trichomes will still move towards amber (oxidize), and the CBG will still convert to THC. I'd cut and hang the whole plant, fan leaves and all. The slower and longer the dry time, the better. The plant doesn't die the moment you pull it.

I have a gecko in an aquarium and have a misting system for it. If I had lots of clear trichomes, I'd set up a misting nozzle or two for the hanging roots to come on once a day for 10-15 seconds to slow the drying. It shouldn't affect your drying environment.

There are cheap and easy systems you can DIY if you have time. I saw these at Coachella. Very nice.
I might even make one for my yard to handle this fucking non-existing climate change heat.

Yeah you can. It's smokes harsh. Smells like shit an doesn't even look like bud. Like hollow hay

The hay taste is from fast drying and uncured. If you're growing, pull a bud and try it. You'll see what I mean.

I have no idea of the strain as it was from bagseed but seems to be more indica than saliva. I've got a few more days till I have to leave so hopefully it will turn out OK. It just sucks that I've put 3+ months of daily care and may not get the full potential out of her.

You're so close, it won't suck much. If at all.

Now I'm really curious. I'll garb a nice bud at harvest time. Collect the kief off the outside, then collect it from the inside of the bud. I'll scope both to see the difference. I'm assuming the inside trichomes will be clear/cloudy with no amber. I'll report back after I do it.
