Spider farmer SF-4000 appears to be a fire hazard.

I purchased my SF 4000 before knowing about RIU,
since being on here I have found only one other member
who posted about his Commercial run with several SF 4000
and I asked just what failed? I never received a reply
nor has he ever posted again that I know of.

So now you are #2 unless more members post a failure
#3 Problem with Spider Farmer 4000 LED Fixture
Faulty Potentiometer (Dimming control)
Fixed by on-site repair under warranty.

I hate that you had this problem and glad you found it before any serious issues occurred. The thing is even the best of the best sometimes fail. Appreciate the heads up to us all who use them.
Good Luck

Day 41 6 spider farmer sf 4000 I think they’re working okay.
Buds look great sir. Nicely done. Mine may be a 1 off fluke. Even nasa has failures and they hire the best people money can buy. It's unreasonable to expect perfection in a mass produced product. It's just a distressing experience. I'm happy to hear your boards are working great. Beautiful ladies you've got there.

It looks like this isn't a 1 off:
There is a lot of conversation on reddit regarding the hot spot issues on spider farmer boards too. It is a known issue. Check out the critical reviews on the sf-4000. They recruit users on instagram to receive a free light in exchange for a favorable review. Spider farmer gives them them money via paypal. The user then pays for the light on amazon. If the user fails to leave a favorable 5 star review spider farmer will file a grievance with paypal saying they did not get the product from the receiver of the funds they were promised. Paypal refunds spider farmer the money, and the user is stuck with a purchase they thought was a free product in exchange for an honest review. Apparently spider farmer and mars are also owned by the same company. Ever wonder why the marketing is so similar? Yeah, me too. I just found this on reddit:

Maybe you aren't aware but Spider Farmer and Mars Hydro are owned by the same company.
edit: The comment I typed a reply to got deleted so I'll expand here.
It's a little difficult to point to a direct source (I assume they don't really want people to know this) but from what I can tell the company is ShenZhen LG-LED Solutions & they have 3 grow-light company fronts. Spider Farmer, Mars Hydro & Meizhi.

They're very pushy towards their advertisers compared to companies who make top of the line (albeit expensive) lights like Chill LED Tech for example. They don't want honest marketing from people they're sending lights to, they're sending lights to people for them to say good things & if you aren't quick about it they get upset with you real quick.
They have bad customer service, so bad that they need to form a new company every time a new generation of LED tech comes out. They're the same company as Meizhi & Mars Hydro. Started with Blurple as Meizhi (awful reputation) -> they make non samsung white LED's as Mars Hydro (awful reputation) -> samsung white LED as Spider Farmer.

Most of us more experienced people have been through this a long time ago. Sometimes, I even try to tell new people their lights are garbage, but for some reason that makes me the bad guy, so I just sit back like my dad and let them get hurt. It's the best way to teach the kids sometimes.

Thanks. I'm interested to hear their response. My hope is that if there is an issue in manufacturing to be fixed they can address it. Defects are no good for the seller or buyer. Everyone has a shared interest in solving these defects. I got stoned to the bone and my anger is slowly subsiding :)
Have been in electrical wholesale distribution for over 20 years. Quoting switchgear for the last 10 and can tell you I have seen more recalls in my career, maybe into the thousands. You know that analogy things aren't made like they used to be. It is true sir> LED fixtures in general as well as dimmers can be prone to issues with heat dissipation>. Mad about the fixture have a dimmer catch fire in your wall lol. I get it you are angry but chit happens and maybe your fixture could be tested and prevent a lot of future issues. Just sayin

LG LED Solutions builds far more than 3 or 4 brands of grow lights, maybe 30 or 40 brands would be closer, often mutual competition. You can have them build a private label light line yourself. They will have a selection of components for you to choose the quality level of products. They will put your company name on it and you are the new “Spider Farmer”.

Anybody that research the leds before buying would figure spider farmer out just read all the crap about their products and the false reading charts they supply with their products do some research next time and if you're spending that kind of money might I suggest a MIGRO did a lot of research before buying mine (very sensible) and if you've got a lot to spend on a light the MIGRO ARRAY tops the charts for price vs quality check out Shane's YouTube channel he tests a lot of lights

Simple solutions to simple problems. Buy from reputable sources that make quality products. Pass on the companies manufacturing trash destined for near term failure. I thought spider farmer was reputable. I found out the hard way that they are not reputable, and a lot of their amazon reviews are fake. They just give out free lights and pay people via paypal so they can purchase the board on amazon and leave a fake genuine review. Sure there are some genuine reviews in there, but the house of cards was built on fake reviews. They're a deceptive little outfit making faulty products and they're really good at marketing.

I failed to see the forest for the trees sir. However, I've had a fantastic experience ordering from vendors on alibaba. Outstanding equipment quality, service, and competitive pricing. Friends don't let friends buy qb's on amazon. Where were you fuckers at when I bought that thing man? :)

I thought I had something similar to this happen to one of my HLG QB 288's. Turns out a fully ripened bud touched the light and smeared resin on it.
