When to harvest plants?

What do I need to look for on my plant to determine if it is ready for harvest, too late, or too early? Do I need to pay attention to trichomes? Pistol color? Or a combination of both? Should I just ignore trichomes altogether as some people are telling me?

Or put up a picture under whadyathink?
Interesting question
I typed in When to harvest in the titles only search feature and found tons of info

I'm not sure answering everyone individually is viable:blsmoke:
I dont have a plant anywhere near ready right now, people are telling me im dumb for saying that you need to pay attention to trichomes to harvest. People are telling me to ignore them entirley...and me working in the cannabis industry for years working with labs and such tells me thats false. I cant find a single website that DOESNT say to look at trichomes. Just wanted to get some other peoples 2 cents

Ask this guy he claims to know a lot in this post.

I don’t look at trichomes

here’s my favorite line

Google is literally free...try googling "How to tell when cannabis is ripe" or "when to harvest cannabis" and look at literally any website. OR READ A BOOK

After doing run after run it is easy to recognize ripeness without looking at Trich's but till then it is an important indicator

But say your plant is still kinda low on weight, but for some genetic reason your trichs are 30% amber....even though it isnt showing signs of being ready yet...you would wanna pull right? Because as your trichs amber they deprecate and become less potent and less flavorful because terps are dying off. Am i wrong?

Yes you are wrong
Trichs can be forced to change by stress and other outside factors but it doesn't mean the buds are ready

So your saying amber trichomes are not decresing potency and terpenes? Because i lab test every bud i produce at my grows and personal and more amber is ALWAYS less terpy and less potent

You know what ruins terpenes ?
Fried yellow leaves
Im not following..? All i want to know is as trichomes amber they are less potent and less terpy.....so if you let your plant amber to 90% youve ruined your plant....yes or no? trichomes ambering is them dying off as i know it

Lol i was asking a question...people are telling me 2 different things. Trichomes dont matter from some people....and other people say trichomes HAVE to matter thats the whole reason were growing them. I wasnt trying to be ugly or anything im trying to understand what im missing.

Think of it like cooking steak. Do you cut the inside before the outside looks done? No. So look for signs the outside is ready THEN bust out your scope. No sense cutting a red steak

Decide who you believe
I'm fine with your decision as long as you don't spread bro-science

I see. so you pay attention to them ONLY after the plant itself is showing its ready...but you still want to look. Thank you that makes sense
