Pot heists.

As we get closer to outdoor grow season in New England and southern Maine specifically. I wanted to tell y’all the story of pot heists in my area last fall. They’ve always happened so keep shit close to your house. But last year the assholes stepped it up a notch now they are using drones to fly over Entire neighborhoods and spot your grow. Then in the dead of night they roll In on dirt bikes and atvs and hack it down. Sometime way before it’s ready which somehow makes it even sadder. I had several friend get robbed and even spotted the drone flying in my neck of the woods. I think this year I’ll be spending a lot of time sleeping in my tent with my dog right next to my grow. Anyone else seeing drones used for heists?

I do real estate photography and am a licensed drone pilot. On my last shoot I spotted several nice 4x8 raised cannabis beds with trellis in the neighbors yard, so its definitely possible that thieves would use one to look in peoples yards. Most drones cant fly super far, especially in a residential area, so you'd be able to follow it back to the pilot fairly easily.

I'd recommend a perimeter alarms like guardline, that will trigger an alarm inside your house. They arent too expensive. There's also motion detecting cameras with human detection that will send alerts to your phone, but more expensive. They help weed out false alerts from animals or branches and whatnot

I have Arlo cameras love them, but they are sensitive and will send an alert even if the the wind is just moving things. but that guardline is something I’m definitely gonna add to my property. Thanks for the tip!

Edit. I live in very rural Maine surrounded by woods and trails. Not suburbia with fenced yards. Most properties on my road are 10 acres plus with trails in and out making it even easier for them swoop in at night.

buy a shotgun. Problem solved
As a former drone builder I employ an easily giggled wifi and 2.4 "Spektrum" jammer. Illegal to operate. Not own. I have the only FAA UAV license for blocks. And your drone is illegal outside of your property in most locations. And a disposable 250 class t rex 3d heli if out of height range. Show me your drone over head. I grew up on aerial combat. And welcome the opportunity.

I also employ passive traps and a 110# husky that will eat you, seriously. Had my share of creepers. And a few additional ones due to my posts here.

Offer some labor and I'll give you smoke. What is wrong with world?

Be safe and please try not to seriously harm these fools.
i won’t hurt them but like your husky my 100 lb dog is down to try. I want to be as preventative as possible not reactive. I want them to know we’re there so it’s not up for grabs. They got my friends whole grow only 4 properties down the road last year, but their house and yard are much more visible than mine.... just not from above lol.

Not in my locale. Not even a blowgun. But in places yes. And the FAA and governments terror of drones and their potential created laws via the FAA that actually would constitute the same criminal charges as attempting to shoot a passenger aircraft. Check your fire. Maybe your roasting you are promoting.

Fun world we navigate. LOL.

i fly paramotor and i see many grows but i won't steal... i mean, growing cannabis is as easy as growing weeds
Nice. You'd hurt someone or do big property damage if taken down. LOL. And unless your financing that ultra light? I can't see your hobbyist flying for reconnaissance. Support your sail.

Be safe.

I'd turn the criminals in before I made the law abiding home owners criminals for putting .22 cal bird shot through your foil. I can walk to your your soft crash site. And we will converse the situation with authorities. Camera over private property will hang you. And clear me. "My wife sun bathes topless." The stack of charges you just assumed. And guilty until proven innocent. And I'm defending a "safer" discharge of a fire arm in defense of a pervert peeping while in illegal air space. LMAO.

Mind your own business beyond a nod of recognition is my suggestion. Some of us value privacy more than most will ever know.

Peace and health to all.
