Trump condemned for mob actions at Capitol
A day that President Trump saw as a last stand for him and his supporters descended into one of the ugliest scenes in American political history, as a mob stormed the U.S. Capitol shortly after Trump spoke to it, forcing the evacuation of Congress.

The episode led to broad condemnations of Trump for inciting the riots, with some calling for his immediate impeachment and removal.
The fury and outrage did not only come from Democrats.

The National Association of Manufacturers, a conservative business group, said the 25th Amendment should be invoked for Trump’s removal.

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) said a video the president released, in which he repeated his baseless claims about having won a landslide election before telling his supporters to go home, was insufficient. She said the day’s events will be remembered by history as a “part of his legacy.”

The chaotic day also further revealed the deep divide within the Republican Party over Trump’s behavior since losing the election and the efforts by dozens of Republicans to challenge the Electoral College vote count on Wednesday despite a lack of evidence of meaningful voter fraud.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who found out his party had officially lost the majority in the upper chamber while the riots were taking place, opened the day by warning that if the election were overturned “our democracy would enter a death spiral.”

“Lies have consequences,” said Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.). “This violence was the inevitable and ugly outcome of the President’s addiction to constantly stoking division.”

Trump has for weeks inaccurately insisted to his supporters that he won the presidential election, calling it “fraudulent,” “rigged” and “stolen.” The president has long had his eye on Jan. 6, believing that Vice President Pence and Congress could somehow block the certification of electoral votes affirming Joe Biden as the next president.

Several former White House aides, including former chief of staff Mick Mulvaney and recently departed communications director Alyssa Farah, implored Trump to more forcefully condemn the actions of his supporters.

“I need you to hear me: the Election was NOT stolen. We lost,” Farah tweeted.

The president’s address did little to quell the unrest or undo what had already transpired. Instead, it largely added to what some in the GOP viewed as a final, lasting stain on Trump’s legacy.

“The president of the United States’ statement now, in my view, was completely inadequate,” Liz Cheney said. “What he has done and what he has caused here is something that we've never seen before in our history.

“This will be part of his legacy, and it is a dangerous moment for the country,” she added.

Later, Trump seemed to excuse if not condone the chaos.

“These are the things and events that happen when a sacred landslide election victory is so unceremoniously & viciously stripped away from great patriots who have been badly & unfairly treated for so long,” he tweeted.

“This is chaos. It is mob rule. It is dangerous. This is sedition and should be treated as such,” the manufacturers group said.

“Vice President Pence, who was evacuated from the Capitol, should seriously consider working with the Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment to preserve democracy.”

I just had a thought. Trump should remain president to Jan 20. But his inciting violence should not be tolerated. And seeing that he can not tell the difference between real life and fiction he should remain seated in the rotunda (except for bathroom breaks and a nap on the cot) in a straight jacket with a ball gag.

They might invoke the 25th or just impeach him with and up and down vote in the house and senate, I think he's finished by the weekend. Mitch and his loyal caucus have nothing to lose now. Putting them together in a secure location while the capital was under seize has caused them to speak among themselves. I figure one way or another, 25th or impeachment, Pence might be POTUS for 10 days. Any house or senate members who support this bullshit after today's fiasco might also find themselves expelled. Here are the rules for getting expelled, there are enough pissed off republican senators to do Hawley and Cruz, there might be enough in the house too.

"Article I, Section 5, of the United States Constitution provides that "Each House [of Congress] may determine the Rules of its proceedings, punish its members for disorderly behavior, and, with the concurrence of two-thirds, expel a member." Since 1789, the Senate has expelled only fifteen of its entire membership".

Washington Republican reverses, says she won't object to Electoral College vote
Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) said on Wednesday that she would not object to the Electoral College vote, reversing course after pro-Trump rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol building.

“What we have seen today is unlawful and unacceptable,” Rodgers said in a statement. "I have decided I will vote to uphold the Electoral College results and I encourage Donald Trump to condemn and put an end to this madness.”

A spokesperson for Rodgers told The Spokesman-Review that the Republican never formally objected when lawmakers began objecting to Arizona's electors, and said she wouldn’t object to other states. She previously planned to object to multiple states' electors, according to the newspaper.

Pompeo calls for prosecution of Capitol rioters
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo condemned the storming of the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday calling for justice to be brought against criminals who engaged in rioting.

“The storming of the U.S. Capitol today is unacceptable. Lawlessness and rioting -- here or around the world -- is always unacceptable,” Pompeo tweeted Wednesday evening.

“I have travelled to many countries and always support the right of every human being to protest peacefully for their beliefs and their causes. But violence, putting at risk the safety of others including those tasked with providing security for all of us, is intolerable both at home and abroad. Let us swiftly bring justice to the criminals who engaged in this rioting.”

Pompeo should realize the rioting started because of one person trying to upstage Congress when they were accepting the vote tally.

A lot of people are unbelievably pissed off about what they witnessed on national TV, they were far too successful for their or Donald's own good. I've seen some pretty level headed and restrained former government people on TV and on the internet just about spitting fire. If these fucking clowns thought they were pissed off, I've got some bad news for them, their fellow Americans want their fucking heads on pikes and will be making a very deep impression on them in the weeks and months ahead.

I also think they are gonna do Donald over this and I expect he might be gone sooner than he or anybody else thinks. I figure Donald is gonna throw open the White House to these fucks a day or two before the inauguration and they will trash the place and burn it to the ground. Donald will be jetting off somewhere on AF1 maybe even circling the place looking at it burn from the plane window.

They had better do Donald real fast IMHO and Mitch only needs 18 votes to do him today and 16 votes when the Georgia senators show up for work and chucky does him. A vote from the house and a vote in the senate with 2/3 is all that's required, no trial needed. It can happen very quickly if they agree, Pence called out the National guard and I dunno if he had the authority for that as VP.

If Ted Cruz continues tomorrow with all the other dozens of republicans in an attempt to perform a "coup d'état" after this, I think the Republican party will be damaged for quite some time.

They should not televise any more congressional sessions and go into secret session, no weasels can warn Trump then. After they are done certifying the electors an impeachment motion in the house and a secret vote in the senate to impeach, they can do that, they make the rules and no one will know who voted for what. Donald could be woken up tomorrow morning by the secret service tossing him out of the WH in his bathrobe and pajamas.

If they don't then the Republican party is not damaged by their leader's actions to cause this terrorist act by their own?
