First try with Rosin press

Thanks @RadicalRoss for letting me use his press! Definitely a ton to learn to maximize yields but ~12% first press yields on the first try ... burned through almost an oz of my Forbidden Zkittles on the testing but it was worth it.

Most efficient press was the last one where we REALLY crammed it in to fill up the gaps.

Also got around to pressing my fresh frozen bubble hash (trim only) and got more like a 50-60% yield on that first try.

TASTES SOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOD!

It's my first time working with anything that isn't from the dispensary and it's a much nicer experience. We're in OK.

I will note that we only did 1 press per bag. I have a few here that I may press again this afternoon just to see, but I find the quality of the product was much lower when I did that last time.

I'm still loving the press, I think as my technique improves so too will my yields. I also expect most people are double pressing bags and using that to calculate return...

I was really surprised by how well the live rosin turned out. I understand Vader just tossed the trim from all his strains into the bubble bags, and the live rosin we got from that mishmash has a very complex flavor, unlike anything I've had from the dispensary.

Not for nothing, but if you decarb your pressed bags then place in the freezer where you've already had a couple of ounces of Everclear chilling in a mason jar, combine the two, shake vigorously over the course of a day and you'll have some kick ass tincture. Just saying...................

Good to know! For this batch @RadicalRoss is just gonna press the pucks a second time to see if he can get any more out of it...

I've been tossing more scrap out lately now that I'm producing as much/more than I can possibly smoke. Just keeping the prime goods.

Do you like the Midwest better I'm a couple hrs from sf did you end up pressing the pucks a second time? If so did anything come out?

Picked up about another gram off the second press of the Zkittles. It still looks pretty good, haven't sampled it yet.

Got a bit less off the bubble hash, gave it a little try and it's definitely nowhere near as nice as the first press. Noticeably degraded terpene profile.

If the plates are 3"x5" you really don't need a 10 ton jack. I assume they're bigger, though, because a half at a time is more than we could have managed on my 3x5 even if we'd shoved it in there even harder.

I know Low Temp plates are a known and respected name in the rosin press market. I'd considered them when I was in the market for a press but they were out of my price range.

The press looks okay to me, provided it all works.
