My first grow

My friend gave me some plants. When should I pluck the leaves off? Can I put fresh chicken poop in the dirt? He said I'll get a lot of buds from these strands. Does anyone know how much? I forget what he called them all. Thank you for helping me.

oh ow, ok. so. if you are keeping them outdoors, no need to 'pluck the leaves off' as you said. I would recommend, as a first grow you should stick to decent quality store bought nutrients as opposed to straight up chicken shit, unless you already run a successful garden with said doodoo.. The yield is a complicated question and will really depend on many things including the success of the grow and all the things that make a grow successful. This is a great place to start finding the answers and learning. My recommendation, grow them like you would grow a tomato. plenty of sun, lots of nitrogen, and not too much water.

Do not use fresh chicken manure. Chicken manure is too hot fresh. It should be composted first. It will burn your plants.
You can compost it for about two years in a normal compost pile or use it as an amendment to a fast hot compost that takes a month or two.

No. I mean, you could but it's not really a good fertilizer, in my opinion anyway. There are many commercially available fertilizers on the market that are far better.

Its pretty late in the season to get lots of bud from them since they are so small so dont get your Hope's up there.
They will need to be transplanted when they get a little bigger to bigger pots if you want a decent yield

Chickenshit will burn them, and Miracle Grow is crap. If you must feed them try Grow Big. I usually use half the recommended dose to avoid nute burn. It looks like you're possibly overwatering them, some of the leaves have that look. Don't smother them with attention. Keep them healthy and you'll end up with whatever amount of bud they put out.

Why would you "pluck the leaves off"?

What kind of dirt are they in? They likely dont need any nutrients. Probably just give them water every few days for the next 2-3 weeks, then transplant into bigger pots with good organic soil. Let them grow for 4-8 more weeks and then consider giving them nutrients. I recommend dry organic top dress nutrients they are very cheap from your local grow shop.

i believe you mean when you clean up the bottom vegetation from a plant about to go into flower it produces more directed top colas
He is just talking about leaves I think. Yes those little sucker branches on the bottom should be cut off they will never amount to anything. I see far to many people cutting all the large fan leaves off though because they are "blocking bud sites" which I understand the bro science but its mostly incorrect. It might make sense to remove some leaves, especially if its a strain that grows them super dense but most of them should be left alone.

When you pluck the leaves off you get bigger buds.
That is more for indoor growing... and if you do it and you over do it like so many new growers do you end up stunting the plant. Outdoors you dont really have to do it because the sun can penetrate deeper then indoor lights.

If you want to get a better yielding harvest ...harvest in layers. Where you take the top heavy buds first and then you wait a couple of weeks and take the rest.
